Old Court Hotel & Apartments, hotel in Symonds Yat

A relaxing Elizabethan Manor House which maintains its character and architectural features, with a great oak door giving access to the reception.

The staff were all very attentive and friendly, could not do enough for you. The room we were allocated was at the very top (low beams and other obstacles) causing head and body injury... bruised shoulder and head. Beautiful grounds, fabulous scenery perfect location to celebrate my wife's birthday apart from a couple of unfortunate quibbles.

The Saracens Head Inn, hotel in Symonds Yat

Set on the banks of the River Wye, The Saracens Head Inn offers light, modern rooms with free WiFi and private bathrooms. Guests can enjoy freshly cooked breakfasts and seasonal meals.

Absolutely brilliant location, beside the river. Kingfisher cruises operate right outside the hotel as does the hand drawn ferry across to the other side of the river. There’s another very old pub called the ferry serving food on the other side of the river a 10 minute walk on the opposite side. We walked down for a drink as it was a glorious sunny day. Food, staff and accommodation at the Saracens Head were all first class. Beautiful location.

Ye Old Ferrie Inn, hotel in Symonds Yat

On the beautiful banks of the River Wye, this 15th-century pub offers bright rooms with free Wi-Fi and spectacular river views. It serves fresh, seasonal food and local real ales.

Lovely riverside location. Good restaurant and bar. A couple of tips: I stayed in May and the restaurant (and therefore car park) were very busy Friday and Saturday evenings. If you are arriving those days I would recommend arriving early to park in the free hotel car park and book a table for the evening, There is an overflow parking area which is not owned by the hotel and for which there is a parking charge.

the great outdoors was the best place to be.

the great outdoors was the best place to be. we ate at the Ferrie Inn (dinner on the Sunday night and breakfast on Monday morning) we would avoid the summer holidays as we think it would be very busy and we wouldn't get the attention and familiarity we got from all the staff in June

Loved it! Such a gorgeous area!

Loved it! Such a gorgeous area! So relaxing, being by the river, The canoeing was amazing! We saw Kingfishers, Heron's and Swans, to name just a few. The walk up to Symonds Yat Rock is a bit of a challenge, but so worth it when you get up there, what a view! You are able to drive to a nearby car park if the climb is not for you. The walk along the river is beautifully wild too! You could be in another country. You simply cannot go wrong with a visit here.

Beautiful location, plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy and nature trails to explore. A great vibe, outstanding beauty. Parking is difficult, this is a busy spot. Roads are extremely narrow. Plenty of great places to eat. A must see on your holiday.

Beautiful area with plenty of places to walk and things to see and do. Ate mostly at the Saracens Head where we were staying; food was excellent. Did venture over the river to the Old Ferrie Inn, which was also good food.

To me, Symonds Yat and the entire Forest of Dean is still such an under-rated and under-valued area. It is such a beautiful place of natural beauty; if you love birds, trees, being out in nature - this place has it all. You can easily get off the beaten path and avoid the more well-known spots (the sculpture trail gets busy at weekends). It's easy to just lose yourself here and just 'be'. For those who love kayaking & canoeing, there's a ton of outdoor places to get into the water. For camper van owners, this place is a wee slice of heaven and, if you get into the heart of the forest, the relatively low light pollution makes from some spectacular star-gazing on clear nights. Enjoy!

Cleanest property I have ever seen. John and team provided everything you needed to ensure you could maintain that standard. Lovely bed and bedding, kitchen etc. Loved the location and the ability to walk to the river in a couple of minutes and the local pub. The excellent village shop is a slightly longer walk but no issues - suspect no longer than 15 mins via the river etc Having a car was very useful to visit local attractions which were in easy reach - Symonds Yat Rock / Monmouth etc

Wow was such good value for money. We were initially looking at a budget hotel in Hereford. But this came up at the same amount and were so glad we choose this place. Amazing scenery. Lovely cheery helpful staff, comfy room. And a great resturant with the best burger my partner has ever had. Plenty of parking. No complaints. I've travelled a lot for work (although this was a personal trip) and this is definitely one of the top hotels I've stayed in.
