The location is great for visiting the town centre.
The location is great for visiting the town centre. Alongside the river it has a nice view. We ate breakfast in the hotel but ventured to another establishment for our Christmas meal. Naturally we returned for a nightcap! It's a while since we were a 'young couple' so can't comment on any activities, but we enjoyed visiting the various mainly independent shops in the town centre.

It is a lovely city with lots on offer.
It is a lovely city with lots on offer. The shops and streets were decorated beautifully, and people were so friendly and helpful. We could find many excellent places to eat and it is so easy to walk from the hotel; just a few steps and we were in the main shopping area. Our very favourite was and is the Theatre. Were have been coming to the pantomime for over 13 years, enjoying the marvellous performances, even though we have to travel from Norway to enjoy them. We have , on occasion been to watch a play in that amazing theatre . We are hoping to come over in February to see "An Inspector Calls"

There seems to be a real sense of place and identity, including honouring history and heritage alongside contemporary culture (eg Textile display at Library). The town itself has experienced development at different times and these are currently blended very well together. We were staggered at the level of retention of original building materials over centuries and the accessibility of historical places - very impressive and encouraging. In a world of difficulty for most town centres, Shrewsbury appears to have genuine hope of a positive future and a welcoming present built on a fascinating and valued past.

We did the guided tour of the prison which was very interesting. There is a nice shopping centre and loads of pubs. There are nice walks along the river. Boat trips but we did not do any. There is also the castle and military museum.
Shrewsbury is easy to get to on the train and a lovely trip on the hart of Wales line.

Maybe I'm biased as my Ancestors used to live here.
Maybe I'm biased as my Ancestors used to live here. There are many churches in a small town. The town is on a variety of levels and is surrounded for the most part by the River Severn. There's a lovely riverside walk that gives you many views up to the town. A short walk over the English Bridge will take you to Abbey Foregate where you can find the old Abbey and opposite is the Shropshire Wildlife centre. If you enjoy the Theatre there is the Severn Theatre opposite Victoria Quay.

The rooms were excellent, beautiful furniature, large comfy bed. The breakfast lounge and breakfast was great. The staff were amazing. So much thought and effort by the management.
Looking forward to my next visit to Shrewsbury. I usually stay in town and have stayed at most hotels but from now on will stay here as I get far more luxury for the money and it is very peaceful.
Great staff, lovely quiet hotel, spotless, great fresh breakfast and huge bed. This hotel is approx 2.5-3 miles out of Shrewsbury….we like to walk so was not a problem to us. The walk is flat and easy.
Location was very good, food in hotel was good, room was a bit small but comfortable, nice staff, especially the cleaners. Definitely will go again, shrewsbury is a lovely place to visit.
