The Victoria Hotel, hotel in Rothesay

With beautiful views over the Winter Gardens and Rothesay Bay, The Victoria Hotel offers elegant rooms and 2 high-quality restaurants.

Excellent breakfast. Room way better than anticipated with lovely view to the front. Corridor to room would benefit from more sympathetic lighting. You can see that there has been recent and possibly ongoing investment in this hotel. If that keeps up then this could become a great choice in Rothesay.

Island Seaview Villa with Swim Spa & Sauna, hotel in Rothesay

Situated in Rothesay in the Isle of Bute region, Island Seaview Villa with Swim Spa & Sauna features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. This villa offers a garden.

The house is gorgeous with fun and stylish decor, spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. The games room is totally brilliant with pool, sauna, ping pong and pool table. The swimming pool has hot tub jets and a current to swim against and Bluetooth speakers! It’s so luxurious with bath robe and slippers and everything you could possibly need. There are lots of places to sit and get comfy. You can also just cross the road and go swimming in the sea which was wonderful. It’s two minutes from the ferry and ten mins from the glorious Mount Stuart. We didn’t want to leave! Carol was friendly and helpful and so lovely to us.

Kingarth Hotel, hotel in Rothesay

Kingarth Hotel has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Kilchattan. Guests can have a drink at the snack bar. All guest rooms in the hotel are equipped with a flat-screen TV.

Our stay was wonderful, room extremely comfortable and bathroom luxurious. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast wholesome and very good choices. Meals were all excellent with such a wide choice, it was so nice to have freshly cooked food. The area is beautiful very quiet and relaxing but with great walks from the hotel and local transport very good if you don’t want to drive. I can not praise the hotel enough.

The Glenburn itself is comfortable and relaxing with a good restaurant and stocked bar. Mount Stuart is stunning and well worth a visit. Jade Garden is a fantastic Chinese restaurant. Delicious and affordable food. Macs bar is a great place to watch sports and have a drink. Friendly bar staff and owner. Loads of nice walks and good beaches.

Bute may be Scotland’s most underrated island.

Bute may be Scotland’s most underrated island. Stunning beaches, great coastal and hill walks and fine views to Arran and the Argyll Coast. Rothesay has a relaxed vibe and is full of character buildings, with a fine castle and extensive promenade and gardens, backed by handsome Victorian villas. There are some rather run down areas, perhaps reminiscent of mainland coastal towns, but also many delightful features, with regeneration projects, such as the art deco pavilion, helping to build a new image. The town centre seems to have improved lately, with a better range of cafes and restaurants. The island is small and there is an excellent bus service, so getting around without a car is easy (and far more enjoyable).

Nice wee seaside town, very friendly.

Nice wee seaside town, very friendly. We like it so much that we are planning to move there permanently. Eating out options however are very poor, most places have stopped serving by 7.30-8pm with the exception of the Chinese and Indian restaurants which are very basic.

Rothesay is the kind of place that if you are older, it reminds you of family holidays when you were young. It feels like nothing much has changed for a while. The scenery is lovely, there is wildlife and peace.

Rothesay is a lovely place to visit, we spent a week there in July. Quite a few places to visit, Mount Stuart, Ettrick Bay, Bute Yard. Popped into Ambience, lovely place. Glenburn Hotel is central for staying. So peaceful at night. The views are stunning.

    I loved the Island.

I loved the Island. Rothesay is a beautiful place that like others suffered during covid. Some businesses have closed whilst others are surviving just. They are rebuilding and refurbishing slowly. The Island itself has so much charm. Driving round stopping at the bays remains scenic and idyllic. Nothing can change nature and it is in abundance here. You will not be disappointed with the scenery. From the quaint tea rooms and repurposed phone boxes there is something to grab your attention everywhere you go. Food recommendations are the Glenburn hotel fish and chips and the Cadillac Hotel diner with the best burgers on the Island. Take the time to explore every corner as they are all different

Terrific hotel and hosts, really accommodating. We went with our 2-year old and made to feel very welcome - a very cosy family feel. Also ideal location for exploring and for getting into Rothesay for dinner. Will definitely be going back when next on Bute. Thank you!

We have stayed many times before. I find it now lacks atmosphere and entertainment. We go into town but the hotel could be making money from customers to keep us there. We brought our own board games as even the pool room is closed.
