This is another trip to the GW while visiting Rotherham and our first with the new owners/management.
We were warmly welcomed and loved the service throughout our stay by all of the team! Just perfect!
Throughout the week, the staff could not have been better. The entire team always, smiled, asked if you needed anything and made us happy to be back! Thank you all!!!
-We booked the large suite since we were here longer. -The room was ideal for us. It is upstairs, quiet and away from the rest of the rooms.
-The bed was very comfortable. The duvet the perfect weight. Linens were white as can be and pillows were to our liking.
-We love that the windows open so the fresh air comes in and the view of Rother Minster steeple was nice. Mosquito screens would be a nice addition.
-Towels were worn and tattered upon arrival, but we mentioned this and they immediately had them changed-perfect.
-The shower is powerful which is wonderful but water goes across the floor to the toilet so you'll need a big bath mat. 😃
-The large bathtub was a nice treat
The breakfast was good and the staff accommodated requests with ease for vegetarian sausage, cheese in the eggs. The mushrooms were delicious! The regular sausage was also good.
The bar is well stocked. Nice selection of wines, beers and spirits.
-Cozy by the wood stove for a visit with friends on the sofas
-We watched the 2nd half of the England semi-final on the big screen TV by the bar- Yeah England Bring it home Sunday
We did not try the restaurant as we had other dining plans away from the hotel. The menu looked good, the chef was very nice and knowledgeable so will try on our next visit.
The outside patios are great for enjoying the nice weather. We still miss the old beach vibe "bar van" outside.
Parking is still a plus although no longer included in the price of the room.

Pleasant and helpful staff, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Plenty of parking and nice seating in the lounge area. Food on offer was varied and very nice. Coffee and food served in the lounge as well as the restaurant. Tea and coffee facilities in our room topped up each day. A popular hotel and it was easy to see why, really good staff. Rotherham is where we come to visit family so we didn't do the tourist bit.

Small English town, nearby Sheffield.
Small English town, nearby Sheffield. It's a good place to visit if you wish to see how real people in England live. It's nothing like the big cities. However it's not a place I would stay for more than 1 night...Few hours stop at most.

I stayed in the centre.
I stayed in the centre. Driving in the outer areas had nice three bedroom semi-detached houses type properties. In the centre more terraced houses.
Lots of shops, quite a lot of retail park area in the centre.
An Aldi next to an Asda, a large Tesco Extra a mile away. A McDonald's restaurant with drive through, a Burger King, a bridge where underneath you see River Don with swans if you are fortunate.
Some parts a bit dull, few less nice houses amongst some terraced houses.
A nice mosque in the central area.
Petrol seems a lot cheaper in central areas where they compete with supermarkets than outer areas like Rawmarsh where they have less competition.
Town has population of around 260,000.
