Ripon is very pretty city.
The centre is compact, so easy to walk around the main square. Plenty of places to eat out in the evening. Some lovely Italian restaurants Marion’s & Valentino’s were good choices.
Lovely traditional tea shop The Wakeman’s House gave us some good tips, were very friendly gave good service and offered a choice of nice snacks.
Easy to access the Cathedral and enjoyed a guided tour.
Nice walk just at the edge of the city along the riverbank & opportunity to feed the ducks!

The hotel was ok.
The hotel was ok.
The food was not suitable for vegetarians , it was okay if you could eat meat . I could not the breakfast as there was nothing for vegetarians , the breakfast staff didn't say good morning as there was no breakfast staff there . the people who were there just looking busy doing nothing !!!!!
The restaurant was like eating in a public house .
We could not get full fat milk , it seems in all hotels it is semi skimmed milk , I am allergic to semi skimmed & skimmed milk . No one would go & get me some .
The room 27 was next to the stairs , there was no fridge in the room , good job I brought my own mini fridge .
I would not recommend it to anyone , from the outside it looks beautiful .
The welcome was not very good , Staff need to be trained more .
I have worked in hotels for 40 years , I have standards .
But unfortunately the hotel did not come to my standard I give the hotel 2out of 10

The cathedral is amazing and there are other things to see in the hotel which is delightful. I would like to have had the opportunity to visit Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal which are nearby. I eat in the Ripon Inn where I was staying but there seem to be lots of eateries in the town.

Ripon is a great centre for a holiday with a beautiful cathedral. We walked the Prior Richard Way from York to Fountains Abbey using local buses each day. Well placed for York, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Fountains Abbey.

Lots of small shops and cafe/restaurants to explore.
Lots of small shops and cafe/restaurants to explore. Lovely vibe to the city. Parking cheap and plentiful. Not been since trained to be a teacher there 30 years ago so it’s changed a bit but still kept its charm. We had a few drinks by the river, took in the sites and ate lovely food.
Stayed at The Unicorn in the market place, ate at Prima Italia and couple of coffee shops out towards the edge of town (Thirsk side) apologies for not knowing their names.

Great location everything literally town is on your doorstep. Hotel staff very welcoming and helpful. Nice spacious room, clean and tidy, big comfy bed, refreshments in room, even had oat milk option (you don't even get that at the big fancy expensive hotels).. breakfast was really good and not extortionate, can't fault this hotel at all.
Would definitely stay here again in fact wouldn't stay anywhere else as it was well worth the money.
traditional hotel in the centre of Ripon.
the breakfasts were exceptional but far too much and had to ask for smaller portions in day2 as I don’t like to leave food. great choice.
it was central to everything so our car didn’t move for the 3 days.
Bed was comfortable.
Good safe free parking
Lovely clean and comfortable room. Good location as a base for Ripon. Good communication from host. Very lovely furnishings and comfy bed. Free parking snd a pub which serves food 2 minutes walk away.
