The room and bathroom were clean with ample supply of towels. I did not suffer with any noise issues, this being a pub with rooms. My breakfast was superb, quality bacon and sausages, crispy hash browns which weren't greasy. Helpful friendly staff made this a perfect one night stay. Number 23 bus stops are just outside for transport to and from the city centre and wharf.
The Ship Leopard hotel is just 2 minutes from Portsmouth Harbour railway station and 3 minutes away from the Historic dockyard.

An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

The shopping centre at Gunwharf Quays is really good with plenty of shops and places to eat.
We had a great steak meal and breakfast at the Bar and Block restaurant.
We had cocktails at The Spinnaker Tower which was a real treat and we would certainly do this again and is worth doing.

The Millennium Promenade is exceptionally well marked and takes in some fascinating places. The Spinnaker Tower is amazing. Gunwharf Quays is lovely. The Historic Docks are highly impressive, though visiting the Ships is not cheap. The Briny Restaurant on the seafront between Southsea and Eastney is outstanding.

Interesting war stuff - if you're interested in such things.
Interesting war stuff - if you're interested in such things. I'm not but my partner was. He enjoyed several museums. I only went to the Mary Rose one, which was reasonably interesting to me.
Food-wise, Rocka International on Osborne Road was a brilliant place to eat and only 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Would highly recommend this for food quality, quantity, price and friendly staff.
I actually went to Portsmouth to meet up for a couple of days with a friend who came over from the Isle of Wight so wasn't really that interested in the surroundings. Good job, really, as there's work going on to improve sea defences, which somewhat spoiled the area round the hotel.

Our visit was to be honest, a stop over on our trip to England from Spain to visit our family for Christmas and New year. We arrived at night. So to be fare to Portsmouth, we didn't get a chance to really visit the area. I must say though, I found travelling from the ferry to the hotel rather difficult!! Road signs/directions are very limited. We were really lost, but found brilliant help from a staff member in what I think is a sports centre. He was working on the 'desk' - what a lovely helpful young man! Due to his help we found the hotel!!!

Went by train from my home town in South Wales one change at Cardiff Central and then straight to Portsmouth Harbour Station (4 hours travel plus 1 hour wait in Cardiff), so would have been unhappy with additional travel.
The Hotel is directly opposite the train /bus station, so exit cross the road at the main pedestrian crossing point and straight through the hotel door.
Location was ideal, close to the Shops, Restaurants, Pubs, Portsmouth Dockyard, The Spinnaker Tower, Isle of Wight Car Ferry Terminal etc etc.
Very good breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable room. Captains Table restaurant in the hotel was lovely, the food was of a very high standard. Nice bar in the hotel as well. All good !
Great hotel near the Gunwharf quays shopping centre and the Historic Dockyards. Ideal for a trip to Portsmouth, very well connected to the harbour train station if you don't travel by car. Room was spacious, clean and had everything for our stay. Staff was extremely helpful and breakfast was perfect. Definitely recommend!
Location could not have been better - right across the road from Portsmouth Harbour railway station. View from my window was HMS Warrior. Nice big bathroom and shower. Great included breakfast at the neighbouring Keppels Head hotel.
The staff were extremely helpful in every aspect, especially TINA who was super efficient and always ready to answer any questions.
The location of the hotel is superb. Close to both the city centre and to the harbour.
