Great location for exploring the Trossachs - Lake of Mentieth, Loch Katrine, Callander all special and worth visiting. Good food at the Lion and Unicorn in Thornhill and Nick's nearby. Our host and Hamish were excellent as was breakfast.
Ideally situated to explore the natural beauty of the Trossachs National Park, this charming hotel is set in Callendar, at the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’.
Offering a restaurant, a bar and a games room, the Lion and Unicorn Hotel is located just 10 miles from Stirling.

This historic carriage house (built in the 1600s) was one of my favorite stays in our 3 week tour. Staying here is like stepping back in time with all the modern comforts. The beds were so comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful. The restaurant was very good and very cozy - and very popular with the locals. Breakfast was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
In the picturesque village of Callander, this traditional Scottish inn offers free WiFi, a friendly bar and homely rooms with flat-screen TVs and freeview channels. Stirling is 14 miles away.

Very friendly staff , lovely and clean, and comfortable bed, and amazing food for dinner
Our philosophy is to create a hotel which fulfills our idea of the perfect place to go and stay. This perfect place, whether restaurant or hotel, should be entirely in sympathy with its surroundings.

We were walking the Rob Roy Way. We hadn’t realised it was more of a hotel for bus loads of elderly people. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it just wasn’t what we expected.
The Abbotsford is a spacious Victorian property, refurbished in a contemporary style. It was featured as one of the top 10 bed and breakfasts in GB by Yours magazine.
Located in Callander, Callander Hostel offers free Wi-Fi access throughout and free private onsite parking. The hostel also features a shared guest lounge.

We loved stayed in this cottage for 4 nights, the weather was beautiful so we were able to sit out on our balcony for breakfast, taking in the stunning views. Extremely dog friendly setting and the owners were very helpful. Well equipped cottage had everthing we needed for our stay. And my husband says to let you know that if you ever need Bernie (the resident retreiver) rehomed then we would very happily oblige!

Hills and forest in easy reach of the property, along with Flanders Moss and Doune Castle close by for a range of activities. Great walking and cycling, and a great meal at The Inn at Kippen on our last night. Superb.

The Port of Menteith and the Loch of Menteith is a beautiful...
The Port of Menteith and the Loch of Menteith is a beautiful and very tranquil and scenic setting. It is much less busier than the more touristy lochs such as Loch Lomond, in the surrounding areas.
One can spend a quiet, relaxing day close to wildlife either swimming or fishing in the loch without being disturbed.
The Port of Menteith is also an ideal location for outdoor family activities with wildlife and nature attractions such as the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the Blair Drummond Safari park, the Loch Lomond Faerie Trail, the Braklin Falls and the Flanders Moss Nature Reserve, to name a few, just a stone's throw away.
We stayed at the Lochend Chalets in Port Menteith for a week in August and had a memorable stay there. The self-catering cottages are ideal since it could get a bit too pricy eating outside, especially when you have a family. We recommend this place for families with young children who can enjoy the play area, swimming in the loch and feeding the ducks there.

The location is beautiful and the house is cozy. The view to the lake is amazing and it's only a drive away from the lake, some really nice restaurants and Stirling.
It was a nice welcome and when we asked for more wood for the fireplace they were quick on helping. Also, a nice welcome pack with some essentials and a letter with some guidance on things to do nearby :)
