Lion and Unicorn Hotel, hotel in Thornhill

Located in Thornhill, 12 km from Lake of Menteith, Lion and Unicorn Hotel provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Loads of character, terrific home made fresh cooked food, very cosy with huge real wood inglenook fires, perfect on frosty winter nights. Most of all the staff and Fiona the owner, within an hour we felt so welcomed and appreciated , as if they had known us for years. The bedroom was very comfortable and very clean. Built in the 1630’s this place could tell so many stories but probably its most famous visitor in the 1960’s was non other than Elizabeth Taylor. We will most certainly return in Summer

Roman Camp Country House Hotel, hotel in Callander

Set in secluded 20-acre grounds, the Roman Camp Country House Hotel is set on the banks of River Teith in scenic Callander Village.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with an equally roomy bathroom with bath and separate shower, very nicely renovated with an interesting ceiling! Staff were so attentive and friendly. We went in December so could enjoy the lovely decorations in the fantastically interesting library and sitting room, All in all an unexpectedly special feel to the whole place that really made our anniversary stay unique. Thank you to all concerned!

The Lake itself is stunning and has lots of different activities on offer. Due to the time of year most of these activities weren't available for us, but we are already looking to come back to take advantage of them.

We loved stayed in this cottage for 4 nights, the weather was beautiful so we were able to sit out on our balcony for breakfast, taking in the stunning views. Extremely dog friendly setting and the owners were very helpful. Well equipped cottage had everthing we needed for our stay. And my husband says to let you know that if you ever need Bernie (the resident retreiver) rehomed then we would very happily oblige!

The Port of Menteith and the Loch of Menteith is a beautiful and very tranquil and scenic setting. It is much less busier than the more touristy lochs such as Loch Lomond, in the surrounding areas. One can spend a quiet, relaxing day close to wildlife either swimming or fishing in the loch without being disturbed. The Port of Menteith is also an ideal location for outdoor family activities with wildlife and nature attractions such as the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the Blair Drummond Safari park, the Loch Lomond Faerie Trail, the Braklin Falls and the Flanders Moss Nature Reserve, to name a few, just a stone's throw away. We stayed at the Lochend Chalets in Port Menteith for a week in August and had a memorable stay there. The self-catering cottages are ideal since it could get a bit too pricy eating outside, especially when you have a family. We recommend this place for families with young children who can enjoy the play area, swimming in the loch and feeding the ducks there.

The location is beautiful and the house is cozy. The view to the lake is amazing and it's only a drive away from the lake, some really nice restaurants and Stirling. It was a nice welcome and when we asked for more wood for the fireplace they were quick on helping. Also, a nice welcome pack with some essentials and a letter with some guidance on things to do nearby :)
