Breakfast was excellent. Very good, friendly service - sufficient attention without being too much. Food splendid and always delivered with a friendly little chat. The offer to pack my croissant to take with me rather than eat at breakfast, was much appreciated too.

very picturesque old Manor house, like hardly altered since hundreds of years. Beautiful garden with sea view. Four poster bed. Mind this is kind of air-bnb, which is not mentioned at booking..com . So You need internet access and have to check Your emails on Your mobile when arriving to be able to get the keys, as the owner is not present.

Porlock, on the north coast of Somerset, is a delightful village that offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. My recent visit to Porlock left me thoroughly enchanted by its natural beauty and quaint charm.
The village backs onto the breathtaking landscapes of Exmoor National Park providing a stunning picture of rolling hills and lush greenery. The coastal views are spectacular, especially from Porlock Weir, where the dramatic meeting of land and sea creates a mesmerising sight.
Walking through the village, I was struck by the picturesque cottages, charming shops, and friendly locals who made me feel welcome. Porlock's historical allure is evident in its well-preserved buildings and the stories they have to share with visitors.
One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the coast. Whether going up to the scenic Porlock Hill for panoramic views or enjoying a leisurely stroll along the coastal paths, there was no shortage of outdoor adventures.
Overall, Porlock in Somerset is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, historical charm, and warm hospitality. It's a destination that promises relaxation, adventure, and a touch of magic. I can't wait to return and experience more of what this enchanting village has to offer.

Charming little village just back from the coast - although the sea, and Wales on a clear day, were clearly visible. Nice local shops and cafés - not a chain in sight!
People very friendly, good pubs.

A nice little village but not a lot of great places to eat.
A nice little village but not a lot of great places to eat. There is a lovely cafe called the Old Library which has delicious food but the rest of the offerings were more basic and like pub food. It has a friendly and welcoming Methodist Church and seems to have a thriving village hall. It's a good base to be in but a bit limited in and of itself.

A lovely, pretty village. Had a nice meal in top The ship. Plenty of team rooms. Easy to park there at a reasonable price. Porlock Weir is well worth a visit or even a stay. The locals were very warm and welcoming.

The location is perfect for exploring the coast and the coastal side of Exmoor. The town has enough amenities for a week's stay and the people were friendly and welcoming. The food options were limited to the pubs the hotel and a fairly basic pizza place. The access roads are quite steep and narrow but fine if you're not in a hurry. Rainy day options are limited though.

Delightful studio, tucked away off Porlock high street and convenient for everything - shops, pubs, restaurants and the Coast Path - but also very quiet. Private parking less than 100 metres away (a rarity in Porlock), sparkling clean accommodation with a fully equipped kitchenette, excellent shower, and a sweet little courtyard garden. Sally the owner was charming too. Lowerbourne House Studio ticked all the boxes!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we were well looked after by Helen & Shaun, a lovely couple. Told about ideal walks around with the dogs, especially from Porlock to the beach & on to Porlock Weir & back home through the woods ! Had a lovely breakfast each morning in the Tea Room, another day had lunch which was enjoyable. Will be visiting again.
Very beautiful and clean property, it really felt like a luxury retreat in the countryside. Breakfast was outstanding, plentiful and delicious. Various walking options possible from the b&b, Porlock Village (for eating out) were about 25 minutes walk away.
the hotel is very old and has great character but as an oldie I found the trip up two floors a bit trying. The location is great as its in the centre of Porlock. The staff were helpful and polite and the breakfast was lovely.
