Charming hotel, everything was newly renovated. The food for breakfast was wonderful. We also ate dinner in their restaurant and all 14 dishes were exceptional. Highly recommend! The owners are friendly and charming, we truly loved our stay!! Would absolutely return again. Adorable border town, a great stop on your way through Scotland.

Staff:- Plenty of information in rooms as what to do/who to contact if needing anything. Nice corresponding email a week before arriving. No staff seen during stay but the idea of the bunkhouse is more like a hostel rather than a B&B where you just help yourself.
Facilities:- Shower pressure & heat was lovely. Towels, bedding & toilet roll all provided. Nice communal kitchen with all the commodities needed & spacious bedroom for the family. Wife said a kettle in bedroom would be nice but kitchen is literally next door. Not much room for sharing in kitchen fridge but 2nd fridge/freezer located downstairs near entrance. Bike storage is excellent, located on site in lock ups that easily hold 4 or more bikes at no extra cost.
Comfort:- The mattresses aren't premier inn but I can't say I had a bad night's sleep. The communal kitchen can get a tad overcrowded if everyone's using it at the same time but I did find it useful when it was raining so we could wait till it passed & in the meantime have a spot of lunch/cuppa whilst watching TV.
Value:- Great value for a family of 4 & compared to other hotels in the area. I've tried nearly everywere Newcastleton has to offer over the years & I'd say this is good if you're looking to use it just a go between i.e. sleeping/washing & nothing else.
Location:- More or less situated bang in the middle of the village with all your local commodities like shops, pubs, bus stop, petrol station & walks/bike trails all within walking distance.
Featuring a bar, The Douglas Hotel is located in Langholm in the Dumfries and Galloway region, 31 miles from Thirlwall Castle and 20 miles from Cumbria County Council.

Basic bunkhouse accommodation comfortable no frills with specialised secure cycle storage and drying room well equipped kitchen no onsite breakfast but shops and eating places nearby. Efficient but a little spartan. Clearly well designed with cyclists specifically in mind

The village was left rather isolated when the railway closed as it is a long way from the main road and is at first sight very quiet but it has fought back extremely well with lots of signs of community activities and spirit.
I visited this place with my family. Kids enjoyed walk around the country side. It’s a beautiful quiet place. Newcastleton Bunk house is fully equipped with all the facilities that we needed during our stay. Kitchen room everything inside the hostel was super clean. Staff & people of this place were friendly and supportive. We enjoyed our trip. Would love to visit again!
Besides the comfortable room and the marvellous location, it was the kindness and hospitality of the owner that really sets this B&B apart from so many others. Sandy did everything that she could to make us feel welcome, with a kindness that we will easily remember. Warmly recommended to all travellers on their way around Newcastleton. Thank you so much, Sandy.
Superb accommodation. The host(s) couldn't have been more helpful. Everything was spot on and the breakfast was amazing. I will definitely stop in again if I'm ever in the area. The walk from the B&B to the local pub was very pleasant too, along the river, and the food there (the Grapes Hotel) was also really good. Top stay all-round
Newcastleton Bunkhouse was a wonderful place to stay, it is lovely and new and has everything you could need. The location is great with local shops and restaurants/cafes nearby and loads to explore in the surrounding area, The staff were extremely friendly too. We would highly recommend it and will definitely be going back.
Set in a lovely location, a good place to visit lots of places.
The hotel has good-sized rooms, we had a separate bathroom, but there are en-suite rooms, all lovely and clean.
Sandy is so friendly and helpful, and their choice of breakfasts is fabulous. Our full breakfast lasted till tea time.
