Bridget the owner was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She ensured everything was fine and if we needed anything, we only had to ask. Her two dogs Olly and Poppy were so lovely and no bother at all. It was nice to see them. The whole place was super clean everywhere. There was tea, coffee, milk, chocolates and other snacks when we arrived. The place was cosy and the bed was very comfortable. Slept like a log! We only stayed two nights but wished it was longer. We will definitely be back. Excellent 5*

We were trekking from Symmonds yat to Monmouth, spending a night in monmouth and then trekking on to st Brievals 12th century hostel the next day. Monmouth is Perfect intermediate spot along the wye valley walk by the river river Ross.
Went to Monmouth castle, the regimental museum and walked around the town, including the fortified bridge. Had coffee on high street, a cornish pasty from the pasty shop and went to roof top terrace Italian restaurant for dinner which was popular and nice. Went to the local historic cinema to see a film to end off the evening.

I love the area.
I love the area. The Savoy Cinema is a little treasure and spent the weekend at a festival there so I can't really speak for solo travellers because I met up with others at the festival. It was superb and I hope it is held there again next year because I will definitely return to Monmouth.

We arrived too late for a shopping trip through the town but it looked interesting enough to make another trip during the day. We had an inside meal in the Chippy by the gateway into the town and it was very good. I think that it would be an interesting town to explore and there is the river to check out as well. It looks like you can even park in the town which must be a rare bonus. We would have liked to see some of the historic sites but sadly we were basically only staying overnight.

Monmouth is a lovely town with lots of shops, market, places to eat and theatres. We stayed to go to the theatre and had an excellent evening show with Alfie Moore. There are excellent butcher shops and M&as food . There are lovely riverside walks and further afield the Forest of Dean to explore.

Monmouth itself is very pretty and quite touristy.
Monmouth itself is very pretty and quite touristy. We didn't spend too much time there but explored the countryside and villages around. We went to Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow and a couple of castles. What a beautiful area. This area is also quite food-y. In fact the small restaurant we used on our first evening had a Michelin star - how lucky was that?
When travelling for work and trying to stay within a pre set budget it's not always easy to find a place that has very high standards; however the Punch House certainly has them in abundance! Manager Vicky was such a nice person, nothing was too much trouble for her and her staff, I'll certainly be staying here again if I need a hotel in the area. Room was comfortable, all the facilities worked as they should and that breakfast was superb!
When booking l explained that we're both have limited mobility, walk with crutches and are Blue Badge holders. Asked about parking, "unload then park in the town". When we arrived there was a parking space outside the front door, with a notice that it was for Blue Badge holders! Hmm!
All the hotel staff were superb, kind, helpful without being condescending. Great food and assisted me with my limited diet. Well done!
Great location right on edge of town with plenty of shops, restaurants, coffee lounges, hotels and other eating places. Hairdressers and barbers, and outdoor hiking and other specialty shops also. The Riverside Hotel is not far off main highway and provides good breakfasts and parking is available. We would not hesitate to recommend to other visitors looking to stay in this interesting town of Monmouth.
We only had a one night stay en route for Pembrokeshire so this was a perfect location on a main route with a 10 min walk to Monmouth centre for evening dining. Then back to the hotel for a nightcap at the friendly bar. Room was clean, shower first class and a hearty breakfast included. Excellent value for money.
Great central location for the town - everything in easy walking distance. Lovely breakfast, welcoming staff. Comfortable room.
Recommend Mokos if you like Mexican - 5 minute walk from the hotel - great food and friendly staff.
