The smallest town in Wales obviously doesn’t have the amenities of a larger town but it is a good base to tour the surrounding area. 3 pubs and a restaurant take care of evening meals and it’s not too far to a couple of larger towns if you can’t find what you want there.

A lovely little town with the river running through it.
A lovely little town with the river running through it. It is very quiet, but seems to have a nice community. We were welcomed at the heritage centre where there was lots of information about the area. Everything is within walking distance, including the station. The convenience store has a good range of food and other articles such as maps.
There are several restaurants, tea shops and pubs. For a bit of luxury book a meal at the Drovers Arms, with an Egon Ronay chef, a lovely eveningl. A few miles up the road is The Trout at Beulah which provided great food and drink at a good price, so we went there most nights!
We had some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside, there are some fantastic views.

Brilliant place for walkers.
Brilliant place for walkers. Stunning scenery and loads of information available on different length walks (online or in local establishments). It's a small town but it has a few places to eat and is a great base for anyone active. Caffi Sosban and the Drovers Rest provided us with lovely meals

I had a great stay stay, breakfast was lovely and I could have more one option so had full english and croissants with ham and cheese heated up lovely. was in a double room nice size. not small at all and comfortable bed. The owners of the hotel are so lovely make feel so welcome. Makes a chance compared to some places I've booked as full hotel service with reception. Where recently I've booked hotel and been airbnb style with no reception and have call number. This is not like that at all.
Very friendly happy owners. Very accommodating and said they would be able to supply a picnic or evening meal if we needed it. Excellent cooked breakfast top notch quality. additional cereals , yogurt fruit etc also. I just had a single room and my bathroom was down a corridor but it was for my sole use and a robe was provided so i didnt have to creep along the landing just in my nightie! Excellent little hotel would definitely stay again.
I had a wonderful stay at the Belle Vue Hotel as the host, Jamie, was very warm, welcoming and a great cook. The curry and breakfast which he prepared for me were delicious and generous in proportion. The room itself was very spacious, comfortable and peaceful, ensuring an excellent night's sleep. I particularly liked dining, sipping wine and reading my book besides the log fire. Very atmospheric.
The staff and reception were/are very welcoming. If you like real ale the local beer is a must. Breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. The hotel has character which for me, is a positive.
