Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist
The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.
A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.
A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.
Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.
The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.
Been here many times before. Great beach and promenade.
Been here many times before. Great beach and promenade. Victorian pier for a bracing stroll.
Many shops including independent stores as well as mainstream shops. Great choice of bars and restaurants.
We ate at both Wetherspoons which is located in an old theatre and a lovely cosy pub at the back of Wetherspoons called Cottage Loaf.

Llandudno is a beautiful coastal town, a lovely walk, on the flat, to the pier. The pier is lovely, a very nice little cafe at the end of the pier for light refreshments.
There is an assortment of shops and restaurants to choose from, and, as long as you're mobile most things are within walking distance. Lots of places to visit from Llandudno - Anglesey, Dry ski slope, Caernarfon.......
I think Llandudno has something for everyone.

We love everything about Llandudno.
We love everything about Llandudno. Whether it's a stroll on the promenade or a walk down the pier. The Great Orme is great to explore Whether it's on foot or by car. Love to visit St Tudno's Church. Shops are brilliant on Mostyn Street, and the retail park is nearby but doesn't intrude and spoil Llandudno. I would like to add Whether it was staff in the shops or in the cafes everybody was so friendly which it isn't always the case these days.

Llandudno is a pretty place with lots of shops and good coffee etc. The cable up the Great Orme is well worth doing and the open top buses to Conwy is a must. Then have a walk on the beach and pier and maybe take a boat ride. Lots of cafes and restaurants to suit various budgets. There are many other things to do too!

Very welcoming hotel. Room was warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. My room was larger than expected with a sofa as well as the bed. Really good shower too! Friendly staff and excellent cooked breakfasts in the morning. Location is ideal for visiting the main attractions in Llandudno. Only a few minutes walk to the Tram station for the Great Orme Tram, seafront and lots of good restaurants and shops in the town. Also easy walking distance to the train station.
Another great stay at the grand hotel, Wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Llandudno.
The staff are super friendly, rooms are clean and nicely decorated, booked a sea view which was had a lovely view of the promenade, it’s in a great location for everything.
Eat a couple of times in the restaurant and it was good, the Sunday roast is very good value for money compared to others around and price these days.
