It was a pleasure to stay in the property. The surroundings were luxurious and very peaceful. We enjoyed the surroundings and Sunday lunch at the nearby Black Bull.

This is the loveliest hotel - with comfortable beds, kind and welcoming staff, and fantastic food. I wish I could stay here longer!

I particularly enjoyed the warm welcome, and the atmosphere in the restaurant and bar.
The food at dinner and breakfast was top quality. I travel throughout Europe and stay in many hotels, and I have to say that this was the best hotel experience in many years.

Lauder is a great village with everything you need.
Lauder is a great village with everything you need. Spotty Dog for coffee and a Scotch egg, Flat Cat Gallery for gift shopping and cake. There is a butchers, post office, pharmacy and co-op. As well as a beautiful church, castle and surrounding areas with lots of history and natural beauty. An underrated gem

Excellent accommodation within a beautiful building of great historical significance and set in magnificent countryside. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the castle tour. Our guide (Norman) had a wealth of knowledge with regard to both the castle itself and the Maitland family who have occupied it over the centuries.

Lauder was a village with butcher, bakery , deli shop, cafe with art and gifts, eco shop, restaurant , church , post office, fish and chip shop, and Co-op.
Lovely meal at Black Bull, the deli shop had delicious cheeses, treats and wine. We also bought from the eco shop , fish and chip shop, food and gifts from cafe and the bakery too.
Amazing stay! We stayed in the sculleries, the rooms were extremely comfortable, very clean. The castle is set in lovely grounds, a great place to unwind. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The location was ideal for exploring the local area. The Black Bull in Lauder was a great place to eat out.
Arran and Charlie made our stay exceptional. They were very helpful, professional, and kind. The breakfast was also superb. Both the Haggies and the veggie sausage were great! The hotel is super charming and in an excellent location for Edinburgh and country walks. We'll be back for sure.
The staff were very friendly. The food was excellent. The room was spotless. The location is ideal for exploring The Borders and is within easy reach of Edinburgh and the Lothians and also Northumberland. I happily recommend this excellent hotel.
Although we arrived mid evening, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The room was beautiful and clean as was the rest of the hotel. Highly recommend.
Great location in Lauder High Street. Was perfect place to stay for a wedding at Thirlestane Castle. Place was wonderfully clean and tidy and good host.
