We were using Lauder as base for visiting Edinburgh. Just spent one afternoon exploring the town. Enjoyed sandwich and tea at a Deli and walked around castle grounds .
Train into Edinburgh from Stow worked well. Also drove to Dunbar for the day.

I particularly enjoyed the warm welcome, and the atmosphere in the restaurant and bar.
The food at dinner and breakfast was top quality. I travel throughout Europe and stay in many hotels, and I have to say that this was the best hotel experience in many years.

Lauder is a great village with everything you need.
Lauder is a great village with everything you need. Spotty Dog for coffee and a Scotch egg, Flat Cat Gallery for gift shopping and cake. There is a butchers, post office, pharmacy and co-op. As well as a beautiful church, castle and surrounding areas with lots of history and natural beauty. An underrated gem

Excellent accommodation within a beautiful building of great historical significance and set in magnificent countryside. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the castle tour. Our guide (Norman) had a wealth of knowledge with regard to both the castle itself and the Maitland family who have occupied it over the centuries.

Amazing stay! We stayed in the sculleries, the rooms were extremely comfortable, very clean. The castle is set in lovely grounds, a great place to unwind. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The location was ideal for exploring the local area. The Black Bull in Lauder was a great place to eat out.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel this was our 3rd visit, fantastic as always the decor is absolutely stunning . Amazing food will definitely be back.
Paul is so helpful goes above and beyond all staff are lovely and friendly keep up the good work. We will highly recommend this place to stay.
Great location close to shore. We did liked the massive fireplace in hotel restaurant and overall it felt "like home". Breakfast was amazing with plenty to choose from. We loved the morning vibe of the place. Staff was friendly and kind. Dinner at the place was ok, but not great.
Margo was an absolute delight. The breakfast was incredible and the overall experience was exactly what we were looking for. We had a lovely walk through Lauder with a stop by the local pub. The locals were welcoming and jovial. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
