Amazing property, a really special family home that is like stepping back in time in the most beautiful way. Christine couldn't have been any more welcoming and breakfast was sourced from her own animals. The gardens are incredible. Very clean and of a high standard throughout the property. Christine was so lovely and enjoyed sharing her incredible family home with her guests.....a magical experience and we can't wait to stay again!

Keith and Pauline were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. The room and ensuite were clean and spacious and they provided some extra touches which were very much appreciated. I liked the way they had themed the rooms, each one being named after an old stamp and decorated accordingly. (They are The Old Post Office after all!) Their home is beautifully decorated with lots of knick-knacks and art work. There were several choices for breakfast which was delicious. They are situated in a beautiful area with good access to the City of Durham and Beamish Museum.

Personally I love these kind of hotels in the country side, and this one was no exception! Is in the middle of the farms, cool people, restaurant downstairs and I slept very well! I also got a soap to take a shower ;). I do recommend the hotel! It was close to Truckfest, like 7 minutes by car. Planty of parking places there.

My 6th visit, 2nd with my family. It’s our go to hotel in the area. Always a warm welcome, lovely rooms, great facilities and fantastic food. We all loved it. Pricing is reasonable as well.

This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. The towns are easy to find and are clustered around a twenty mile area, which means you don't have to travel far to see new things or visit a different towns.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham.
Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham. There were a variety of restaurants, we chose to eat in Clinton's which was next door to our accommodation, the old post office. The food was the best restaurant food I have had for a very long time. I would highly recommend the area and the facilities I used.

Really, we were not staying in Lanchester itself, but it does have two good restaurants and a good range of local shops, and there is free parking throughout, and there is a bypass that keeps unwanted traffic out of the town centre.

Room was lovely and spacious and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Staff were very friendly/ Breakfast room was spacious and caught the morning sunshine. Breakfast was delicious and much better that some we have had in more expensive hotels.
So much character inside and out, perfectly placed in the heart of Lanchester Keith and Pauline are attentive hosts who made us very welcome. Can’t recommend enough what a fabulous place it is to stay.
Lovely country house hotel with a welcoming host who could provide excellent advice on where to eat. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked. Best thing was walking in the grounds and down by the river.
