Good sized room that was very clean and had everything we needed, right in town
Hitchin is a really nice place. The church is gorgeous and looks so good at night. The local people are really friendly and even the teenagers have manners. If you like walking or running, there is a lot of open space nearby and some nice little trails of you prefer biking.
There are a lot of little boutique shops too selling things you wouldn't find on the Internet of you are looking for gifts.
Hitchin is a good base of you are wanting to go to Duxford for the air show, or if you are wanting to explore Royston and the Templar cave. There is a mix of architecture spanning the different periods in history too. If you are hungry, there is a wide choice of places to eat from restaurants to take aways. The Bodrum does fantastic kebabs, and the Town Frier has proper seaside fish and chips.
The Sun Inn does some really nice food, and the bar is really quiet, but the staff are first class.
I've not had time to explore everything due to only being here through work, so I can only describe where I've been, but I love what I've seen.

Hitchin was a lovely vibrant placed that we wished we had more time to explore.
There are a lot of varied restaurants, in the town to choose from, which were reasonable priced for most people’s budgets.
The atmosphere of the town and shops were welcoming.
We look forward to our next visit to Hitchin.

A great mix of shops, mostly independent local businesses.
A great mix of shops, mostly independent local businesses. Great choice of restaurants, and clothing boutiques with a boho twist. Good vintage shops, lovely down by the river and church.
Interesting architecture. An awful lot of hairdressers tho!

Hitchin is a lovely market town.
Hitchin is a lovely market town. Some of the shops have closed down since my last visit, which is a shame, but the pubs and selection of restaurants is outstanding. The atmosphere is always great in Hitchin and the people are extremely friendly.

Hitchin is a great vibrant market town with an abundance of independent places to eat and chill. There are also the major chain places to eat and drink if you are a little less adventurous. There are plenty of open spaces and playgrounds for the little ones. You can sit in the town square, relax, have a drink and watch the world go by. The locals are friendly and happy to chat and help. The train station is nearby and you can be in the centre of London in under an hour.

Lovely old market town with historic buildings, very grand looking church and a large interesting looking market. Quite lively at night and easily accessible by train but station is a mile or so walk from the centre.

As a cheaper option, Benslow is excellent. I was attending an event nearby so the proximity (10 mins walk) to Hitchin station was useful. It is also close to town. Room was smallish and no tv, with a single bed, I chose en-suite though I believe many have shared facilities. Benslow is a residential musical establishment so it has a dorm feel.
Big shout to breakfast and the staff! Buffet style with excellent fried options.
Great location for getting around Hitchin.
Exactly as described, lots of space for everyone can easily sleep 7 people.
Lovely and cosy. Comfortable beds, quiet location.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Very attentive host, responded immediately and checked in on us a few times to offer support if needed.
Beautiful hotel & surroundings. We went for a gig and the location was in the grounds so worked out really well! Staff were super friendly and helpful.
