There was much that was attractive about Dundee, historically and architecturally. The City Museum and Art Gallery was interesting, but the art was not always well displayed, with too many exhibit cases blocking views. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The building is a gem by Sir George Gilbert Street. The shopping centres were too many and too tawdry. The churches were closed, which is sad. Street level shop fronts were unworthy of the fine buildings above.

It was a one night stay in Dundee that was connected to an event for work so we did not get long enough to take advantage of all what there would be on offer in and around Dundee. Will certainly be back for a longer period to time!

Plenty of things to do, despite it being between Xmas and New Year. We thoroughly enjoyed the Discovery and Verdant Museums, the Observatory, and two football matches at Dundee and Dundee United. It was less than a hour's driver to Glen Clova for a superb walk up to Loch Brandy, and St Andrews was les than 30 minutes away. We enjoyed an Indian meal at the Cinnamon Restaurant, a meal on New Years Eve at Rama Thai, and an evening in the Counting House (Weatherspoons). The roads were quiet, with minimal traffic, and it felt safe wherever we went. We were surprised and delighted with our stay in the city.

Lots of pubs and coffee shops.

Lots of pubs and coffee shops. But our evening restaurant, the Bird and Bear, was a massive disappointment. We should have left earlier. We downloaded a treasure hunt which was great fun. The pedestrian area is excellent.

    McManus museum was very interesting.

McManus museum was very interesting. Walking along river was relaxing and we enjoyed looking out over the Tay. Shopping centre had a good variety of shops. Saw a good show at Caird Hall. Some interesting old buildings showing character of Dundee. Discovery ship and V&A all worth a visit.

The museums, galleries provide lots of opportunities to explore Dundee's history. There are lots of pubs and restaurants providing food and entertainment. Dundee has a very 'walkable' city centre with two main malls and other shopping within easy reach. Dundee's location also provides access to the coastal resorts nearby and, further away, to the Scottish Highlands.

The location is good, it's on the main street in the city centre, but that didn't mean it was noisey at all. The facilities are alright, maybe it could be better with more but it's ok. The rooms were fine, they're basic, but you pay a cheap price so that's alright. Staff were good, and it's a curious place to go to, a weird old building (or two or three) so there's more character than some modern identikit hotel.

The Queens is in a great location close to Dundee city centre. The hotel has lost a little of its grandeur (it must have been spectacular in its heyday) but it still covers all the basics well. The room was good (3rd floor) with great views of the city. Breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. Parking was on site and free. The staff were good.

A fabulous restoration of one of Dundee’s historic buildings. Excellent facilities and very efficient friendly staff at reception, in the bar and restaurant. While the hotel car park is quite small there is a public car park a couple of minutes away and costs very little.
