Mabie House Hotel is in a lovely location and is very peaceful and a relaxing place to stay. Also for myself not having a car , there is a bus stop not too far away to travel into Dumfries. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Other guests seemed quite happy and it is good for some guests to be able to take their dogs to the hotel.
Cairndale Hotel & Spa is located right in the very heart of Dumfries. DG One leisure club is less than a minute’s walk away, and the Theater Royal can be reached in 5 minutes on foot.

Plenty of places to eat - went to Granary (Belhaven, Green King) twice and Bruno's (Italian) once.
River running through Dumfries is great.
Lots of places nearby to visit - I went to Caerlaverock Castle, RSPB Mersehead, Threave House & Gardens.
Good train service to Carlisle and beyond (and great cafe at station).
Dumfries Baptist Church - warm welcome and impressive modern building.

We stayed in Moffat which is in the county of Dumfriesshire. A great place to visit and close to the town of Dumfries. Moffat is an old market town with a number of interesting shops and a range of lovely hotels, bars and restaurants. The local museum is well worth a visit.

Dumfries was a lot larger than I expected. We were only there for one night. We did a mini pub crawl with friends. There are some interesting pubs in Dumfries with a lot of history and stories to tell. We stayed at a beautiful BnB and caught the train to Glasgow the next morning. We would love to go back again.

A must for Robert Burns fans, a great place to visit, and for adventurous types it's not far from the beautiful Solway Firth coastline. Plenty eating places at reasonable prices. I would recommend the Stove cafe located in the centre of the town for a lite bite.

We were only there for one night, but we’re recommended the Globe for a meal, and it didn’t disappoint, on the way we dropped in at the Annan distillery well worth the £25 tour and the driver gets his or her tasting pack to take away with them.

Euan Maxwell runs an outstanding B&B to rival most hotels and nothing is too much trouble.
Room and en-suite bathroom were spacious and immaculate in all respects. Bed was clean and comfortable. We made use of the guest kitchen which is very fully equipped. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast.
We will certainly use Southpark House again when we need to stay in the Dumfries area in the future.
Arrived after having been at work earlier that day, followed by longish train journey from Manchester, so great to get off the train at Dumfries, cross a road and arrive at hotel in less than a minute. Easy to check in and out. Room in good location within hotel. Comfortable room, provision of tea/coffee, plenty of sockets to charge phone. Good quality shower and bathroom.
It's a lovely large house hotel, well presented set off the road in large grounds. Everyone there is helpful and very pleasant. Our room was large with a large bed. We had dinner and breakfast which we enjoyed. I would recommend this hotel and I know we'll be back at some point (we visit Dumfries regularly).
House very clean and well presented. Beds very comfortable. Not too long a walk into Dumfries town centre. Owner lives next door but she left us to do our own thing. Great off street parking in a lovely quiet area. Lovely welcome pack of breakfast items left for us.
Checking is was easy using a code to get the keys from a key safe. Nice quiet and spacious room. Good Breakfast, but a few mins walk away. You can park at the hotel where the breakfast is served. Close to Dumfries town centre.
