The Lady Maxwell Room at Buittle Castle, hotel in Dalbeattie

Featuring a garden, The Lady Maxwell Room at Buittle Castle features accommodations in Dalbeattie. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking, and free Wifi.

Set in a beautiful location, this unique property is undergoing renovation which is ongoing and has been done very tastefully. The room is spacious, yet cosy with a big comfy bed. The host was very welcoming with great communication beforehand and very helpful during my stay. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked. I ate in the Great Hall which is fabulous, but you can have it delivered to your room if you prefer. Good wifi which was important as I stayed here in a work trip, no issues streaming or accessing my work files.

This is a lovely area with good opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling in nearby forests and kayaking on the Solway coast. If you just want to relax nearby Kippford has pubs with outdoor seating overlooking the pictureseque harbour.

Dalbeattie is smaller than nearby Castle Douglas or Newton...

Dalbeattie is smaller than nearby Castle Douglas or Newton Stewart Its is a very pleasant town with reasonable facilities but it is a great location to base yourself and explore the whole of the Solway Coast and the old Stewartry. Eating out options are limited especially if you are looking for dog friendly

Dalbeattie has a beautiful park , wonderful for taking photos. There are lots of little shop to wander into. Nothing looked boarded up or shabby. We chose to eat in but there are plenty of other outlets to choose from.

Dalbeattie town did not really feature in our visit at all...

Dalbeattie town did not really feature in our visit at all other than the provision of sandwiches and juice for picnic lunches. We are keen on walking and exploring the countryside, forest walks, Caerlaverock nature reserve, Threave Gardens etc.

    Lovely friendly scottish town.

Lovely friendly scottish town. With plenty of eating out options and take aways. Town wood walk and coniston park great for a stroll. For the more active we did the forest walk with fantastic views (would be suitable for pushchair)to Kippford (5.5miles) a lovely seaside village, recommended the Mariner pub for a refreshing drink and or lunch overlooking the sea. The Sun Inn/ Chinese restaurant was a good value evening with great playlist and fantastic food. Birchtree great relaxing bar with very good food.

So quiet.... natural alarm clock with the farm Rooster! Great views across the Solway near the access road and views across the Galloway hills. Close to Kippford for exceptional food at The Anchor Hotel. I was extremely fortunate with the weather with temperatures into the high 20's, the cottage remained nice and cool inside. Really comfortable bed with the room having an en suite with a great shower.

An unusual hotel experience in that it felt very retro. Something had clearly not evolved since the 1980s which is good in some respect but not all. The social rooms are grand and quirky albeit enjoyable. The breakfast was very good as was the evening meal in the bar. The room was fairly modern and the bathroom had recently been upgraded though the water pressur low.

Recent refurbished room was great, ate in the bar, excellent snack dinner (full menu available), very helpful staff. Bedroom well laid out. Didn't expect such a high class hotel in such a quiet town, would have paid more. Strongly recommend if in the area.
