Everything. Fabulous location, lovely views, peaceful setting and beautifully decorated with great facilities. Great communication with owner.
This former coaching inn has a beautiful location less than a minute’s walk from Peveril Castle, which you can climb to enjoy breathtaking views over the Hope Valley.

Lovely little place, this was the 4th time we've stayed here as a midway meet up point with friends from the Nottingham area.
It does get very busy with walkers and other visitors, particularly at the weekend, which makes it very difficult to get around and parking is at a premium.
The Christmas trees are lovely and make it feel very festive.
Good walks and pubs (we stay at the Castle Inn) plus the blue john mines, the "devil's arse" cave and the visitor's centre, but some of the attractions are expensive and so we haven't been.
A drawback is that the main access from the West is via Wynnats pass and this is sometimes closed without notice, this time it was for road works - no advance warning and NO diversion signs - which made us very late getting home.

Well situated village with great hills and caves to explore. Good services in town from groceries to bakery to coffee and pubs. Could easily relax into a stay of 5 nights or so with this as your Peaks District base.

Planning ahead is a good idea.splendid routes to walk along.
Local caves a must but serious legwork required whilst exploring them.Be prepared for expensive entry fees.
Derwent Dam not too far away and so worth a visit.

Whilst i was actually there to boat fish on Ladybower reservoir, i was surprised how nice and interesting the surrounding area looked. A castle built in 1179 i believe, would be an excellent visit in itself, and for walkers it would be perfect.

Great location, great walks, great views, great pubs, great restaurants, great food and great drink. Castleton even has take outs and places to have breakfast. No need to drive once you are here as the walks and everything else you could need are on your doorstep.

A stunning location with loads of great walks on the doorstep. Plenty of places to eat and places to visit. Lots of properties to get a room and many camping and caravan sites. Roads are narrow and parking is at a premium if staying for more than the day. Fully recommended.

Our stay was lovely, the room was really clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The hotel is located pretty much in the centre of Castleton and all of the pubs, shops and restaurants are in close walking distance! I’d definitely stay again!
Perfect location in the heart of Castleton and yet tucked away, so nice and quiet. View out of the bedroom window is beautiful. Good communication with the host who was very helpful when I phoned prior to our stay with a query.
Excellent position within castleton. Very comfortable and the perfect position to explore the local area. Owners were very friendly and helpfull and the facilities within the room were exceptional value for money in our opinion.
Location is great. Pubs and cafés all within walking distance. Close enough to walk some routes directly from the hotel, such as Mam Tor, Edale and Kinder Scout.
