So much to do and see but requires good mobility. Planning ahead is a good idea.splendid routes to walk along. Local caves a must but serious legwork required whilst exploring them.Be prepared for expensive entry fees. Derwent Dam not too far away and so worth a visit.

Whilst i was actually there to boat fish on Ladybower reservoir, i was surprised how nice and interesting the surrounding area looked. A castle built in 1179 i believe, would be an excellent visit in itself, and for walkers it would be perfect.

A stunning location with loads of great walks on the doorstep. Plenty of places to eat and places to visit. Lots of properties to get a room and many camping and caravan sites. Roads are narrow and parking is at a premium if staying for more than the day. Fully recommended.

We loved Castleton - our hotel (the Nags Head) was in the village centre. There were lots of walks nearby, together with a well informed tourist information centre nearby. AND the village had, at least 4 other pubs!

Beautiful large village in the Peak district, well set up for hikers, climbers, dog walkers and cyclists. Lots of pubs, cafes, take out food options. Large visitor centre with free public loos and plenty of parking. Lots of small independent shops, particularly selling Blue John stone works. Lovely place to base yourself at - plenty of pubs with muddy boots welcome! Lots of access to local popular Peak District walks. Great dinner at The Olde Nags Head and a lovely b&b stay at the Bulls Head.
