A Wonderful Stay at Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel:
My partner and I had an incredible experience at the Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We were greeted by Mayur at the front desk, and he truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. His warm welcome and attention to detail made us feel right at home.
Not only did Mayur make sure we were comfortable, but he also upgraded our room and even helped us extend our stay for an extra night, which was such a thoughtful and generous gesture. The room itself was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean, making it the perfect retreat after a day of sightseeing.
The hotel’s location is fantastic, offering both a tranquil atmosphere and easy access to local attractions. The entire experience exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely be returning next time we’re in the area. Thank you again, Mayur, for your exceptional hospitality!

Canterbury’s religious and historic significance has inspired literary greatness. Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’ were based on pilgrimages to the bygone shrine of Thomas A Becket, who was murdered here. The Marlowe Theatre is named after the 16th-century playwright born here, and the Canterbury Museum has an exhibit on Rupert Bear, whose author lived in this River Stour city.
River cruises and punting provide fantastic views of the striking weavers’ houses right on the water, and of Westgate - the UK’s largest city gate. Other sections of the city walls remain, and there are also ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey, named after the 6th-century saint who brought Christianity to England. He was the first Archbishop of Canterbury, but the modern-day seat is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral, dating to the 12th century.
From the same period are the Norman castle ruins, occupying the site of a wooden fort constructed by William the Conqueror. The mound they sit on in Dane John Gardens is thought to be a Roman cemetery, and an original mosaic is visible in the Roman Museum.
In the Buttermarket half-timbered houses and historic inns are interspersed with shops, and big name brands line the Whitefriars Shopping Centre. The Canterbury accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap hostels and city centre B&Bs.

Regular visitors to Canterbury to attend events.
Regular visitors to Canterbury to attend events. We love Canterbury- the Cathedral is amazing and the river makes it a special place.
Town is easy to get around but parts are cobbled which can be hard on the feet so wear good shoes. Lots of choice for eating and loads of characterful pubs.
Boat rides in the sunny weather are recommended.

Excellent location right in the town centre near to shops, pubs and restaurants. Stunning views of the Cathedral and the vibrant city centre. Would definitely go back.
The staff are great , very knowledgeable and friendly
We had use of the swimming pool and towels provided . The pool and area was very clean and provided towels . Lovely breakfast in the morning . Only a short walk from the town centre and we also had a parking spot in the hotel car park.
A well presented hotel where many of the original features have been retained.
Friendly and helpful staff.
On site parking in mature gardens.
A tasty breakfast that was cooked for me individually.
A10/15 minute walk into Canterbury city centre
Although adjacent to quite a busy road, the hotel occupies a good position and is within striking distance to amenities, shops and Canterbury City Centre by car. The food is excellent. and the staff were very welcoming and helpful.
it’s in the city centre and has parking ( charged ) so is ideal for those wishing to explore Canterbury on foot. it is an individual hotel with a nice size rooms , not a chain ( or at least I don’t think it’s a chain ).
