Location was perfect for the Marlowe Theatre, and the hotel had parking, although an extra charge it was reasonable for 24hrs. Our room was comfortable and cool on a very hot day. The staff without exception were cheerful, friendly and helpful. We would stay here again when visiting Canterbury.

Canterbury’s religious and historic significance has inspired literary greatness. Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’ were based on pilgrimages to the bygone shrine of Thomas A Becket, who was murdered here. The Marlowe Theatre is named after the 16th-century playwright born here, and the Canterbury Museum has an exhibit on Rupert Bear, whose author lived in this River Stour city.
River cruises and punting provide fantastic views of the striking weavers’ houses right on the water, and of Westgate - the UK’s largest city gate. Other sections of the city walls remain, and there are also ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey, named after the 6th-century saint who brought Christianity to England. He was the first Archbishop of Canterbury, but the modern-day seat is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral, dating to the 12th century.
From the same period are the Norman castle ruins, occupying the site of a wooden fort constructed by William the Conqueror. The mound they sit on in Dane John Gardens is thought to be a Roman cemetery, and an original mosaic is visible in the Roman Museum.
In the Buttermarket half-timbered houses and historic inns are interspersed with shops, and big name brands line the Whitefriars Shopping Centre. The Canterbury accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap hostels and city centre B&Bs.

I spent a lot of time in the cathedral, it is very interesting and the guided tour for five pounds was excellent. The city is charming with lots of interesting buildings.
I ate at The Cosy Club which has good food, pleasant staff and an especially good miso based pudding. The Chapter Pizza restaurant was very good as well. Both restaurants are very reasonably priced.

I would recommend a walking tour with a guide.
Apart from the cathedral, there are plenty of fascinating old buildings to see and the history of the place.
The shopping in Canterbury is very good, with lots of small and large shops.
There is such a wide choice of restaurants, cafés, and pubs.

Lovely place with lots of unique shops also the main shops and banks you would expect in a big city. Used Canterbury East station and South East Kent trains to travel to Dover Castle . Luke at the hotel told us how to get there only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
Plenty of places to eat or buy food from.

A busy bustling place.
A busy bustling place. The older part of the city is full of narrower streets with independent shops, and is by far the nicer area to stroll around.
The cathedral is very interesting, but the charge of £17 to enter is a rip off.

Canterbury is an historic city, as such is easy to get around ancient streets, very intimate centre. For me the Lovely Cathedral is the jewel in the crown, and from the Hampton by Hilton Hotel is a few minutes walk, I could see the Spires from room windows.. This hotel has a rooftop restaurant and the views from there are spectacular, I went for a look.
As I travel alone I usually eat at M&S Cafes or similar, and if I need anything else take back sandwiches to hotel. I can recommend Canterbury for a visit, I got train from London St, Pancras to Canterbury West Station, hotel 10 mins walk or Taxi £7,00.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the very pleasant and friendly owner Stuart who showed us to our rooms and offered advice on nearby attractions. The breakfast was amazing one of the best I had ever had I must add as I am a bit of a foodie. Great location, roughly a 7min drive to Canterbury Town centre. My daughter enjoyed the surrounding woodland with resident wild pigs which gave the setting a back to nature ambience. Would definitely recommend and visit again if in the area.
The staff was amazing and so helpful. I had all my bridal party staying at the hotel and they went above and beyond. The breakfast was amazing (continental buffet -pastries were so yummy- and a nice selection of cooked breakfast on top). The location is great (4mn walk from Canterbury West and 3mn walk from the old city/city centre). The rooms are so comfy (bath in the bathroom and beds are the comfiest I've slept in, in a while)
Perfect hosts with invaluable knowledge of the area. The standard of breakfast exceeded some of the very expensive hotels that we have stayed in. Location for us was perfect with a very pleasant easy 15 minute walk to the city centre, a good stretch of it alongside a river.
Great location within the Canterbury's city centre. Nearby multi storey car park affiliated to the hotel. Good breakfast and spacious room. I appreciated having a real hairdryer. Very welcoming staff at reception and at breakfast time.
Hotel is well placed for walking to Canterbury Cathedral. Has a large FREE car park. Good Breakfast (bit pricey). Total room cost for 2 nights was well within acceptable range for Best Western standards. Would use again.
