Lovely hotel in the centre of town, the check-in in particular was so quick and efficient (using the pre-checkin online).
This former coaching inn is set in the heart of the New Forest and has wonderful views of wild heathland.

Hotel and room is fine , staff give you great welcome .....very dog freindly so far so good DONT EAT HERE ......oh dear we had dinner last Friday night and breakfast on Saturday morning , clearly short on staff , took nearly 50 minutes to get main course on Friday night , the two hard working girls on , did not stop ...they were excellent , but speed in Kitchen , really , my Curry when it arrived was superb , not sure why having Chicken has a £3-00 surcharge but food good , sadly the breakfast was dreadful , mediocre at best we had to book table again to eat at nine , and again took nearly 50 minutes for a dry bagel with some rather strange tasting scrabbled egg to arrive , (plenty of coffee , fruit juice and cakes to eat while you wait and wait and wait and wait and wait .... ) (( in fact we nearly gave up and just had that )) it was clean table , lots of staff , but honestly far to long to get food from order to table , sorry that's not good enough , however all the staff with out exception were superb and hard working , such a shame because so much of the experience was excellent . Hotel gets 8 out of 10 , eating 1 out of 10 , hard working staff let down ....oh if you want to charge £13.00 for a large glass of wine thats fine , but maybe just maybe.. get some large wine glasses , my wine was served with the wine going over the rim of a wine glass , oh dear so so much about this place is so so good , but the bad bits terrible ...and thats the impression it left sorry ...

Cadnam is a good base for exploring the New Forest.
Cadnam is a good base for exploring the New Forest. Ideally you need motorised transport or a bicycle to see the Forest in its entirity. We took our dogs. There were local walks in the Forest that were walking distance from our accommodation. The village has a shop and pubs that serve food.

Easy to get to, near M27.
Easy to get to, near M27. Some nice country side near by and easy road access to the rest of the area though always long tail backs into Lyndhurst Via A337. A number of goodpubs/places to eat but not much else. It is on the New forest Hop on hop off tourist bus route.
Not ideal for cycle access to the new forest.

We liked the location right in the New Forest.
We liked the location right in the New Forest. We could ride our bikes from the property and be in the wonderful countryside straight away. There were places to visit in the vicinity but we rode our bikes for 2 days running. It is fantastic for cycling and there are lots of places to stop and have a picnic such as by a stream or amongst the trees. Ponies and cows are everywhere just wandering around. We also came across groups of free ranging pigs which was lovely to see.
Toni and Paul are most welcoming hosts
Bistro food was excellent and deserves more customers in its own right
Breakfasr freshly and individually cooked unlike most hotels in the Forest
Very convenient location to explore North and South of the New Forest
Room compact but well fitted out and most comfortable
Helen was a great host and was really helpful for any questions we had. The room was really comfortable and had all the modern fittings and extras you'd expect in a hotel for a higher cost. The breakfast was great too!
The host was extremely welcoming and very attentative. The property was cleaned to a very high standard. It was like having all the luxuries of a hotel with all the benefits of self catering property.
