The Red Lion & Manor House, hotel in Burnsall

In the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, The Red Lion at Burnsall is a 16th-century inn offering an award-winning restaurant, fine wines, and a traditional bar with Thwaites real ales.

The location was excellent for seeing all the All Creatures Great and Small filming locations. We even got to see “Mrs. Hall” and extras filming in Grassington, the next town over. It’s a terrific spot with some wonderful footpaths to enjoy, one in use since 1000 AD. Definitely get out and walk after driving the roads to clear your head, the roads are narrow.

The Gamekeeper's Inn, hotel in Burnsall

Located in Skipton, 23 miles from Ripley Castle, The Gamekeeper's Inn has accommodations with a fitness center, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

Food good and room lovely. But we won't be staying there again due to service. The grounds are well kept but it is all part of a holiday home complex (lots of dogs barking) and they use the Spa as their local swimming baths. We did have a massage which was really nice.

A delightful, picturesque little village with walks along the river to either Grassington or Appletreewick. There is a large car park which probably gets very busy in the holiday season. Although there are limited facilities in the village itself, it is a great centre to explore the surrounding countryside. The Red Lion, in the centre of the village, serves drinks, bar meals and has a formal restaurant for evening meals, which I can recommend highly.

Beautiful little village by the river with a good pub and outdoor terrace alongside the water. Only 10/15 minutes from so many good places....Grassington, Linton, Appletreewick, Bolton Abbey so a good base.

Do not stay in an annex room as these have not been updated.

Do not stay in an annex room as these have not been updated. I was told that the rest of the hotel had been but did not see any other room. I would not recommend the food as our took 1-1/2 hours (burger and fish and chips) We were forgotten about and told that it was a very busy night. Food was inedible. Staff didn't really seem to be bothered that we waited. When I complained the next day to the manager I was told Chef had accident in kitchen so everything was behind. Too little too late. Our room was not cleaned and again told new staff who were in training.

Burnsall is a very pretty village on the river Wharfe.

Burnsall is a very pretty village on the river Wharfe. Hours can be spent just relaxing watching the weather move over the landscape. There is a good dog friendly pub and there are cafes. Parking can be an issue unless you park on the grass by the river which is charged at a reasonable rate. There are plenty of walks in the area. It is easy to walk into the Bolton Abbey estate and also to Grassington. Wifi in the area is pretty good for somewhere so rural.

The Yorkshire Dales are stunning and we did not have enough time to explore properly. Fantastic area for a walking holiday but not in 30 degree heat!! We will be back to visit more places when it is cooler. Burnsall itself is a charming, picture postcard village with a great hotel, tearooms and a pub. Oh, and a river.

    Burnsall is a pretty

Burnsall is a pretty Dales village, with loads of walks and a bus service. The river is great for children to play in. There is a field to park in with toilets on it but the owner charges the rather extortionate price of £8 for the privilege. I had all I needed at the Red Lion but the cafe and ice cream shop looked lovely.

The whole place was just full of character, historic but with all the mod cons. Lots of options on seating, and great menu. Food was delicious and generous. Accommodation couldn’t be faulted, well provided for and extremely comfortable. Unforgettable view of the river, fells and quant town of Burnsall. Already booked to return next month.

I thought the Breakfast was really good value for money and delicious. I loved the full English breakfast and choice. The room was very spacious and very comfortable. Views from the top floor annex was across the fell. The views from the front of the hotel were spectacular across the dales and valley.

Burnsall is a beautiful quiet village, with a lively pub serving good food. The host provided fresh milk in the room, and I liked the old fashioned ambience of the house. Breakfast was served at the table in the comfy lounge.
