The breakfast was excellent...tastey, local ingredients and with prompt service. We were asked to book the time in advance the night but that was O.K, it enabled us to plan our morning and didn't have to wait to be seated. We were able to have our meals with the dog as we ate in the bar. We had a lovely evening meal from the extensive Thai menu and they were very accomodating. Nice to see the hotel is used by locals and travellers alike and it was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is only 550 yards from the Showground (we were attending an event there and the reason for our stay), so couldn't be more convenient. It is a beautiful part of the country.

The whole experience at Smithfield Farm was excellent. We were provided with home made cake every day which was a bonus plus we have to say that the breakfast was exceptional. We will book there again if we ever return to that area.

Jane was very accommodating of our early evening arrival time, and was very hospitable, and generous during our stay. The breakfast was delicious and unmatched. 10/10 recommend. You’d be foolish to try and book anywhere else.

I cannot fault this little gem of a hotel. I travel around to check out hotels etc. I rarely call any hotel a little gem but this one ticked all the boxes. If you want to treat someone to a nice meal that is reasonably priced and amazing then this is the place to go. If your in wales on holiday then do not miss an opportunity to stay here. The Thai food was so authentic.

Nice little town.
Nice little town. We enjoyed our meal at the Indian Ocean restaurant. Particularly as we could take our own drinks. Very friendly staff there. Willing to accommodate. We also enjoyed the friendly pub/bar next door. The drinks were competitively priced, with a great atmosphere.

I would highly recommend this peaceful, romantic lodge in the woods. It was idyllic - slide the large glass door open to feel totally immersed in bird song and the sounds of the lake and forest. Gorgeously furnished inside and out, lit in a soft, welcoming way with neutral colours and lots of lovely tactile textures. Well equipped - absolutely everything thought of for the self-caterer. A friendly host who gave super instructions, an invitation to contact her with any questions and even checked we arrived safely. A one night stay but felt as though I’d been there for weeks :-)

A lovely little town with a bit of everything for everyone.
A lovely little town with a bit of everything for everyone. We ate lunch outside a cafe in the town which served excellent food. We walked along the riverbank and footpaths. We had a takeaway from the Chinese which was delicious. Parking in the high street can be a bit hit and miss but there is ample parking in the main car park. The shops are varied and there is some great browsing to be done. The local area has some stunning views too on the hillside and outer areas. Very good choice for a short break.

Hosts, Ian and Jo were welcoming, helpful and served an excellent breakfast. The room was clean, comfortable and had tea/coffee.
I was travelling by bike and they offered secure bike storage in a locked shed. The hotel is directly on Nation Cycle Route #8 (goes past the front door) so a great option on a trip through Wales. The hotel is within a minutes walk of pub and restaurant options. Recommended.
Very welcoming and informative hosts, lovely peaceful location yet handy for Builth Wells and only a short walk to various establishments for an evening meal.
Clean and Comfortable room, spacious enough and nicely decorated. Comfy bed, slept really well.
Excellent breakfast, Good WiFi, adequate parking and generally an all-round winner of a guest house. Thanks very much! 5*.
Quiet location, away of the main roads, ideal if you wish to have a good rest. Very friendly staff. We found our bedroom clean and tidy, beds, carpets bathroom, all in good order.
Plenty of free car park slots, none bothering you with "pay an display" signs. Seems to be a safe area and Builth Wells is a good base to explore the surroundings
The hotel is well maintained and staff very friendly. Ample parking space and good location for visiting the Brecon Beacons. Close to town centre.
The optional evening meal had a good menu including a wide range of Thai cuisine. The breakfast was excellent
Lovely, quiet location, just a few minutes drive from Builth Wells. Spacious & comfortable room. Fabulous breakfast with lots of choice and very friendly hosts.
