Great one night stay for three adults + dog en route from the West Country back home - warm welcome despite our late arrival, pint of Hook Norton beer, the Astley room in the gatehouse perfect for us, full of character, excellent vegetarian breakfast, definitely recommend! Not all rooms accommodate dogs so double check when you book but it worked very well for us.

Very convenient, excellent value for money. Basic comforts which suited us as we were not looking for luxury. A country inn with a nice pub and restaurant attached. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Banbury is a little run down in the shopping area but the walk along canal is great and there are other parks around for walks. People are very pleasant. Because our hotel didn't serve meals we ate at the local Wetherspoons, which serves good food at very good rates. As a stranger to Banbury I found it difficult to navigate in a car but by foot there is excellent signposts. There are lots of nooks and crannies to explore and lots of coffee shops.

Banbury is an expanding commuter town, that was once a small market town.
Unfortunately the market is no where near as large as it once was. The town centre is busy and has all the amenities you could wish for . Two pubs worth a visit are The Reindeer and The White Horse.
Regretfully there is very little here of historical interest due to inept planning in the 60s and 70s, there are however some wonderful places to visit close by

Banbury is a fabulous place to visit, and stay.
Banbury is a fabulous place to visit, and stay. Plenty of things to do, ideally situated to explore the 5 counties. Town centre is good, but its the nightlife that excels, plenty of great pubs serving real ales, and plenty of mulit-cultural cusine, but you can still slum it with American fat food too if you so desire.

I was not visiting Banbury, the hotel is in Deddington 6 miles south of Banbury. I/we were staying for family reasons, but you would probably stay at the hotel for its location in relation to the Cotswold in general.
