I was staying so I was just outside Banbury for an early shift the next day. I arrived & was told I was the only guest that night so my single room had been upgraded to a suite, was that alright? I said yes that sounds great thanks. The room had a sofa area by the tv, a small desk & chair, nice big bed and ensuite bathroom. Nicely decorated and overlooking the green in the centre of the village. Though on the main road it was still quiet. Nice big car park at the rear, so easy to park. I left too early to have breakfast. Convenient place to stay for Banbury.
...to end the below as ran out of room!.. It was a different staff member and he said was I not told about the door by room 1?? to get out from upstairs, I said no, I definitely was not told that, or if I was it wasnt said clearly. He apologised, I said staff need to be clearer upon checking in. He offered to help with my bags, but since I was already in the pub and on a level to get to the car park I declined, as no issue there. I got to my car to find the screen frozen, defrosted my car and set off, arriving at work 45mins late! I had managed to text them of my predicament but mobile signal wasn't that strong upstairs & I kept having to move about to get the messages to send!!

On the whole it's a very nice town with a good selection of shops, restaurants etc, although one or two streets look a bit run down. We had excellent food at The Church House and the Three flavours. There's also good historical interest .

Banbury is a little run down in the shopping area but the walk along canal is great and there are other parks around for walks. People are very pleasant. Because our hotel didn't serve meals we ate at the local Wetherspoons, which serves good food at very good rates. As a stranger to Banbury I found it difficult to navigate in a car but by foot there is excellent signposts. There are lots of nooks and crannies to explore and lots of coffee shops.

Banbury is an expanding commuter town, that was once a small market town.
Unfortunately the market is no where near as large as it once was. The town centre is busy and has all the amenities you could wish for . Two pubs worth a visit are The Reindeer and The White Horse.
Regretfully there is very little here of historical interest due to inept planning in the 60s and 70s, there are however some wonderful places to visit close by

Banbury is a fabulous place to visit, and stay.
Banbury is a fabulous place to visit, and stay. Plenty of things to do, ideally situated to explore the 5 counties. Town centre is good, but its the nightlife that excels, plenty of great pubs serving real ales, and plenty of mulit-cultural cusine, but you can still slum it with American fat food too if you so desire.

I was not visiting Banbury, the hotel is in Deddington 6 miles south of Banbury. I/we were staying for family reasons, but you would probably stay at the hotel for its location in relation to the Cotswold in general.

Lovely bar area with cosy atmosphere. Helpful staff. Good sized and attractively decorated restaurant with great food - in the evening the dinner menu was excellent and a very good breakfast too. The bedrooms were perfectly adequate but a little tired in decor and lighting. Very nice to be able to walk from our room to the restaurant/bar. The location of the pub was really good, enabling us to walk out of the front door and into the market square. Also being just off the Oxford Banbury A road, meant it was easy getting about.
Big impressive sparsely populated! Warm, clean and quiet. Room was pleasant. Shower room with good cubicle and shower. Nice bed with thick mattress topper. Tea/coffee making facilities. Tele etc. Good location in central Banbury with parking. Lovely building with nice garden. Nice staff.
Conveniently located mordern updated hotel within 10 mns walk of Banbury, very pleasant and friendly hosts, room was very clean and modern with great facilities, although the hotel is on a bust main road we slept very well in a comfy bed. will definitely return
