Superb restaurant and food at The Rutland Arms, a really special venue/experience. Good food and venue, and cocktails, at the Woodyard. Nice comfy traditional pubs. Good shopping. Great walks, eg Monsal Trail from Bakewell, and a circular at Nether Padley/Padley Gorge.

Lovely quirky old-fashioned English small town in the Peak District National Park. Great to stay as a hub to explore/visit Chatsworth, Buxton, Monsall Trail, Curbar Edge, Arbor Low Stone Circle. Fabulous scenery and walks. Lots of small privately owned shops in Bakewell, on the river, and some lovely snug pubs with great real ale ;-)

An old coaching inn on the A6 in Bakewell. It has only 2 rooms at present, but the new owners are hoping to increase this shortly. In spite of being on a busy road it was extremely quiet and we were not aware of any traffic. It is well located and within easy walking distance of the town centre and the river. The owners and staff were very welcoming and the food in the evening and the breakfasts were very good.
