Wonderful stay in an amazing location with such friendly English hosts Jay and Hazel. In fact, Jay messaged us some few days before to say all the restaurants in town were closed on our night and did we want him to book the only one that was open......spoiler alert.....you must go by Jays recommendation, the food was the best of our trip by far :)
Being bikers, we were allowed to park in the hotel's secure garage which is always a relief. The room, shower and beds, spotlessly clean, and the view from the window to the castle and the 'beauty and the beast' Disney-like village, is simply superb.

Very comfortable room in the centre of the beautiful village of Ségur-le-Château. Dean and Karen were excellent hosts, booking a restaurant for us (La part des Anges….really excellent) and providing a really good breakfast. They gave us lots of information about the area and we chatted happily over a glass of wine. Two nice friendly dogs. The village is well worth visiting, so pretty it could be out of a Disney film.

Wonderful hosts. Beautiful accommodation in stunning location. Perfect when travelling with dogs.
Payzac is a beautiful quiet clean village.
Bar Tabac proprietor,Sarah was very friendly as were some of the locals we met at her Bar Tabac.
We travelled to Rocamadour, segur le chateau, la Moulinossou, lac Rouffiac.
Central enough and maybe a week is enough before moving on somewhere else.

A good place to stay while visiting the Dordogne region.
A good place to stay while visiting the Dordogne region. Payzac is worth visiting by itself, nearby are a number of beautiful medieval villages worth seeing. Payzac is a sleepy town by itself, so you would be happy to return in the afternoon from e.g. Lascaux caves, and go to a tavern for a wine.
