France
This pretty house was exactly what I had hoped for when I came to visit France. It's a full house, first floor, with two beautiful bedrooms with antique furniture, a large kitchen with table and ample seating, a nice living room with double doors to the huge back yard, with a patio area, pretty lawn, a garden fruit trees, strawberries, and privacy with the tall fence and wall. The bathroom is modern. There is also a washing machine in the kitchen! I got the key from the owners, only a block away. The parking is right in front of the house. Lysiane and Dominique were friendly and welcoming, very helpful. They were glad to answer all my questions, and when they found out that I was interested in WW1, gave me so much information and guidance about the Somme battles in this area. Dominique gave me an informal guided tour of the battlefields, so I learned a lot! Aveluy is a small village, very close to Albert, with its shopping area and church. When I came to France to practice French, I'd hoped to find a small town or village where I could feel at home and practice my language skills. Aveluy and Albert are exactly what I was looking for, and this nice house gave me a feeling of what it's like to live in this area. Many Thanks to Lysiane and Dominique for making me feel at home and welcome.

I didn't read any reviews in regard to the accommodation...
I didn't read any reviews in regard to the accommodation really because I like to go somewhere without any preconceptions.
To be honest I don't tend to write reviews either for the same reason
On this occasion however I feel its is justified to say just a few things
Firstly Christine your host is so charming and the love she has for the property and her desire for you to enjoy your stay really comes through
The building is full of history and the room is of a good size and the bed very comfortable with a lovely view of the adjacent woodlands
Though the building is historicaly old the bathroom facilities are up to date and are private and again a good size
In the morning you are greeted by Christine who provides a breakfast and the opportunity to sample her home made jams
I thoroughly recommended you stay here if your lucky enough to get a booking and you will not be disappointed

It is remote and yet only a few miles from Albert.
It is remote and yet only a few miles from Albert. You had the feeling that you were on your own in the countryside with all the sounds and sights of the country - a deer at the side of a nearby tree. The owner has homemade jams and marmalades as well as wines and beers to enjoy sitting out in the evening. Very good Wi-fi available and of course,
The breakfast was served in a relaxed fashion with great coffee or tea and orange juice with croissants and as much toast as you could have - a cooked breakfast is also available. If you would like to cook in the evening for your self or your party there is excellent facilities and a fridge for storage of food and drinks - wonderful experience.

A unique place to stay in the heart of the Great War...
A unique place to stay in the heart of the Great War Battlefields close to Delville Wood and a number of other key sites. The accommodation is in a former railway station that was closed to traffic in the 1950s. All rooms are spacious, have storage and locks and access to their own private bathrooms. Madame provides a sumptuous breakfast and also offers dinner with advanced notice. There is a self-catering communal kitchen and various food and drink to purchase by way of an honesty box including delicious homemade jams and wines. The dining room acts as a communal living room and has information boards on its walls about battles etc immediate to the location; there is also a good library (books and DVDs), TV and DVD player. Various artefacts are also available to purchase. There is a table and chairs in the surrounding garden and sun loungers to use. Bicycles can also be stored outside and parking is available. As well as the great garden, you are free to explore the private wood with its own shell craters, trench/bunker remains and an abundance of nature.
