Lyon is a gastronomic center with a pretty architectural facade ranging from antiquity to modern day. Place Bellecour is centrally located between the Saône and Rhône Rivers in the 2nd arrondissement and opens out into major shopping streets.
On the banks of the Saône lies the district of Vieux Lyon, a great example of the Renaissance and full of museums such as the Lyon History Museum. Winding your way through the beautiful streets you can make your way up to the spectacular white-stone Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and look down over the city.
There is a lot going on in the main park of Lyon, Parc de la Tête d'Or, which is home to a zoo of exotic animals as well as various sports facilities and a large lake for boating. Boats of a different description are docked on the banks of the Rhône River; they host parties late into the night.
For a taste of tradition, Lyon’s famous bistros, or Bouchons Lyonnais, provide a cozy atmosphere for some of the best in French gastronomy. Plan your perfect holiday in one of Booking.com’s 130+ hotels, apartments or guest houses.

Beautiful city, easy to manage as compared to Paris, offering Roman Ruins, beautiful cathedrals, quaint places to eat, and art. Regrettably, the Parc D'Or was closed when we tried to visit. (Strange that it has been compared to Central Park in NYC which never closes).

We liked the old city and the high La Fourbière.
We liked the old city and the high La Fourbière. Nice charming bookshops and the Miniature and Cinema Museum was an unexpected marvel. Despite the fame of the city for foodies, we didn't have any kind of gastronomical epiphany. We encountered very expensive the meal offers in different areas of the city and for different publics. We still found the city shopping options a bit expensive. Maybe for bigger budgets.

A different city for a weekend break with not 1 but 2 riverbanks to explore. Ride the funicular up to Fourviere for the views, the church is also amazing (don't miss the undercroft). The Museum of Confluences has some interesting artefacts, but the best bit is how they are presented to tell stories (the captions in English as well as French). Transport is easy with the Metro and a network of trams which run until late night, especially at the weekend.

It is a wonderful city with rich traditions and culture.
It is a wonderful city with rich traditions and culture. Unfortunately, the "newcomers" ruin the entire atmosphere... Be very careful, especially on public transport, if you don't want to be robbed.

A magnificent city.
A magnificent city. Glad we stayed both sides of the river and got to experience both ‘vibes’. 3 nights wasn’t enough. Really only got one full day. Vieux Lyon is beautiful and cathedral and theatre ruins are spectacular areas to visit. Would return in a heartbeat. Try Aunt Betty’s for a lovely watering hole. Excellent boulangerie round the corner from the square in Vieux Lyon. You could treat yourself to a meal at Brasserie George’s. Eat, eat, eat!

Pleasant place to visit.
Pleasant place to visit. The two rivers that cross the city bring quietness and peace of mind. The large historical area provides a walk-through trip to the past while the multiple cafes and restaurants invite you to just seat and enjoy de view. The city is very well served with public transports so you can even rent a place outside the city center and still be close to everything.

Lovely traditional French hotel in the heart of Lyon. Easy access to tube and busses. A short walk from a fine selection of restaurants (the city of Lyon is worth visiting just for gastronomy - arguably the finest in France) and posh shops if that’s your thing.
Lovely helpful staff. Classy hotel. Not cheap but not ridiculous either for a luxury getaway.
Secure underground carpark
Good breakfast (highly recommended)
Not bad for the price, very good value
Rooms are tiny like a shoebox, but again, value is good
Fantastic for an overnight stay whilst travelling across France (like we were)
Staff speak English, Italian, French, and German to name a few languages
Very friendly staff and eager to help and advice in any way, you will feel right at home there, great value for money, their was a fridge and a safe box that I did not find in other hotels but one during my trip to France
