The room I stayed in was completely renovated, new carpet, new mattresses, new and beautiful bathroom. The tv worked great. I stayed last minute and they were very nice.

The hotel is very old with complete service and right in the middle of the old town. If you come in first they may have a parking slip for you but we parked in the paid parking already so didn't use theirs. The restaurant for dinner was quite popular and every meal we had there was delicious and the servers were helpful and kind. Breakfast was great with all the French specialties. The woman at reception was lovely and helpful. The bed was quite comfortable and had a mountain town look to it. Garfield the cat downstairs paid us a visit which was great because we missed our pets. (summer visit & just passing through)

A beautiful town with some great restaurants and bars. All of the locals we bumped into were really friendly. Prices were as reasonable as you would expect at a ski resort. Le Cozy & Vannoir are restaurants I would certainly recommend.

Briançon is a full of life town with lots of convenient facilities. It is perfect for sport fans, you can do skiing, mountaineering, trekking, climbing, kayaking. It has swimming pools as well. Also very nice for people who just want to rest and have a walk through the old town. Everything here is available in walking distance - shops, markets, pharmacy, banks, the old town etc

Nice little town on the French Alps.
Nice little town on the French Alps.
There is a small walled fortress above Briancon which is worth visiting. It is called Vauban.
There is a park in the central area of town which is really beautiful and has many activities for kids.
There is a iceskating arena where you can see one of the best french hockey teams playing.
Eating out is rather expensive.
The whole mountain settings around the town is truly outstanding.

The old town was beautiful but it is very hilly so not for anyone who has mobility difficulties. The new town, at the bottom of the hill is a total contrast. It has a great weekly market. From the old town it is possible to get into the surrounding countryside by bus. The number 7 bus to Nevache is a beautiful ride. Walking in the mountains is fairly demanding Just keep an eye on the bus times! Lots of places to eat nearby and interesting little shops on the doorstep.

Please note: I made a mistake in reviewing this Hotel as I was writing about the nightmare of a Hotel L'Oliveriaie in Opio, France.
Please disregard anything negative I said about Hotel de I'Impossible as everything at this site was fine.
Thank you.

The old town was beautiful, but outside of that was difficult to get around as not much public transport. Used my bike and walking a lot for the majority of my stay. Some great restaurants to explore.

Nice apartment in Briançon close to the town centre and supermarkets. The apartment had plenty of room for 3 persons and it had enough facilities for a 1 week stay. Many people say that the helicopters landing and taking off at the Briançon hospital heliport are annoying, but they were not. If you're a mountaineer and will be out during the day, you will only encounter some landings in the evening. Also, helicopters do not fly at night, so it's not a big deal.
Our stay at Hotel de l'impossible was absolutely fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect - enough out of town to make travel by car easy, and within 400 metres of the river and true peace and quiet. The food was by far the best in the area - i would say very authentic and very very tasty.
Very comfortable suite for our family of four. It was conveniently close to the train station and the beginning of the GR5 trail. It was about a 40 min walk to dinner in the old briancon which we did do, but this was uphill and it was difficult to get a taxi
The parking is excellent. We had a small room with a balcony. The breakfast was surprisingly good. The location was OK. The staff were better than is usual in France
