Raise your wine glass and toast the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town center, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.
Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge. On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the bars and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.
A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.
Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.
It is a lovely city with lots of history. It's also a very 'walkable' city, lots of pleasant areas to stroll around, with parks and pedestrian areas along the banks of the river. There is some magnificent architecture to enjoy, lots of wonderful churches to visit, and an amazing selection of restaurants, bars and bistros to enjoy the ambience of the city, its culture and cuisine, and its people.

Bordeaux is a beautiful old city with many wonderful architectural features. It does suffer from some of the big city problems: some areas appear rundown and not too clean and It is very congested in some neighborhoods. That being said, it is a good place to visit the area of Bordeaux with famous wine villages like Saint Emillion only 30 minutes away and well worth a day trip. The cité du vin is very informative and educational; especially if you are fairly new in your quest for wine knowledge. The development along the Garonde is really well done and makes for nice promenades.

Bordeaux is a lively and attractive city that is well served by public transport at a reasonable price. There is plenty to see and do and the food and drink on offer is generally high standard and not too expensive for a European city centre.
The walks along the quay are very pleasant and it is good to see municipal facilities provided for the the youngsters to enjoy along the embankment. There are also some really good markets for fresh produce, cooked food and clothing through the week.
Bordeaux is perfect for a long weekend stay.

Bordeaux was a wonderful surprise.
Bordeaux was a wonderful surprise. It is beautiful, vibrant and fun . The tram transportation is by far the best in Europe, so convenient and economical. We rode it to the airport ! Museums are outstanding and very reasonably priced. Tours are available easily. Just walking the riverfront on Sunday was worth our visit

This hotel's decor is well-thought-out and adds to the overall charm of the property. The staff members were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean, and we appreciated the attention to detail in maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel. Additionally, the hotel is located within reasonable walking distance from the city center, making it a convenient base for exploring Bordeaux. We had an excellent overall experience and would highly recommend this hotel to others.
A very comfortable boutique hotel located a few metres from the main Square. Easy walking distance to many sights, cafes, restaurants, and a major tram interchange. The rooms were very well equipped, comfortable and spacious. The staff were very helpful. Also - a rarity in France - excellent showers. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
The concept of AppartCity is really nice in France. You have all you need in your studio. The location is close to public transport access to city center.
