My sister and I made this trip to visit the birthplace of our abuelo. We found the city charming with many good restaurants and shopping choices. I loved sitting at the Plaza de la Alameda to people watch amid the lovely palms and flowers. The black sand beach was stunning. We took took a tour to the Cumbre Vieja volcanic site with a side stop of The Virgin of the Snow church. A hidden gem! Our family name is based on goat - be prepared for some steep slopes but lots to see along the climbs.

We had previously visited La Palma in 2020 but stayed on the west side in Los Lllanos. Principally a walking holiday. Santa Cruz gave us access to different walks using different bus services - we do not use hire cars. Santa Cruz is a lovely town with plentiful supply of bars, restaurants and shops. Very busy when a cruise ship is berthed though. Good town beach.

Public parking is a bit cumbersume, but there is an underground parking for reasonable prices (eur 10,50 / 24 hr).

It was a good stay, the location is on top of the hill with a nice view. It requires a bit of physical exercise to go on top. The breakfasts were very nice with good choice of the continental and local dishes.

La Palma is lush green.
Ideal for hiking in the mountains, to see the stars, to swim among lots of fish.
The roads on the island can be very steep and narrow.

We had visited before & our friends had not.
We had visited before & our friends had not. It's a lovely city. We used it as a base to drive around all of the island, but left ourselves plenty of time in the city itself. We had dinner all 4 nights at different restaurants. It is clean. We found everybody friendly. It's a walking city, with a long promenade, cobbled streets, lots of history.

Fantastic location, near Castillo de la Virgen and a few minutes walking to pedestrian city center and beach of Santa Cruz de La Palma. Also fantastic view on the Atlantic ocean. The house and the terrace were very nice, very calm neighborhood and no difficulty to find parking place in front of a local administration building.
For those who like sunbathing, the second upper terrace is amazing.
It is a recently refurbished house in the heart of Santa Cruz de la Palma. They kept all the original features yet it felt modern and clean. loved the hard wood floors and the lava wall behind the bed. Easy to find parking in the street. Good restaurants next to the house.
Nicely decorated, comfortable and well located. Very good value.
We left our car in the car park on Avenida del Puente. If you park near the Jose Mate exit, it is only 3 mins walk to the hotel.
A lovely hotel, very traditional on the outside and ultra modern inside. Great location. The owners have thought of everything and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.
