Bed was really comfortable and the location was amazing. Everything walking distances. They also had a great restaurant and free parking!
Located in Guadix, Hotel Mari Carmen has a bar. With a shared lounge, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom.

We arrived on a freezing cold day and were relieved to walk into a lovely warm reception area. Check in was excellent with smiling welcoming staff. The room was clean and spacious with a wonderfully powerful shower. The bed mattress was comfy but unfortunately there was only one Spanish type long pillow which was typically hard and uncomfortable. The heating unit was strangely situated over the bed (room 212) and worked quickly and efficiently. The hotel has no parking but there is free street parking in the vicinity. would definitely stay here again.
This hotel is set just outside central Guadix and offers free wired internet and private parking at a good price. There is easy access to the A-92 Motorway to Granada.

Nice staff. Few minutes walking to city center(cathedral).
Possible to securely park car in garage (definetely over 3m height)
Pet friendly.
They also have small bar / restaurant, altough not the cozyiest one (too much light).
This hotel is situated in the historic center of Gaudix, near the cathedral and surrounded by the monuments of this ancient, Andalusian town.

Not a lot.
The hotel is listed as a 4 star however it should be downgraded as it's by no means a hotel of 4 star quality .
It needs refurbishing, a different attitude and a new chef .
The bar was devoid of patrons as was the restaurant.
The food was mediocre to say the least and instead of the usual hum of customers enjoying their drink or meal, the only sound came from the televisions in both areas.
We stayed for two nights however the room wasn't made up or cleaned in between

Guadix has a small but characterful historic quarter but which is too much in a state of decay. Then there are the distinctive and massively characterful cave dwellings.
I think that the areas outside of the town itself might be the most interesting aspect of Guadix but we didn't have the time to explore. The views around from the town are astonishing.

Guadix is a town with the charm of old times, a little sleepy.. there is very interesting part of city with cave dwellings (cuevas)
We missed to visit Cathedral museum. But we had a very nice trip to foothills of Sierra Nevada.
There is nice restaurant Liceo Accitano on the Plaza de la Constitución, popular for local people (which we like)

Look forward to returning to spend more time.
Look forward to returning to spend more time. Good to explore the barrio of the caves, the local church is free entry with a small museum and lots of cave rooms to explore. The alcazar was being renovated in autumn 2023 so will visit again -
The historical centre and modern part of town are both great to visit with lots of good value resteraunts, cafes, traditional architecture and a nice plaza major.
The city is situated in a unique area of Spain with nearby deserts and surrounding rock formations.
Excellent area for buying traditional ceramics.

Guadix is a friendly, small city/town, with a magnificent cathedral. There's not too much else to see, but wandering around the quiet streets of the old town is a pleasure in itself. There are a few good bars and restaurants. The cave area is interesting for a quick visit. All in all, Guadix seems like a nice place to break a journey and spend the night, but probably not worth going out of your way for a special trip.

The caves are a must when at Guadix and to stay in them isa great experience. The town was lively with an interesting historic quarter, a cabildo and a cathedral dominating the town. Plenty of place for tapas or dinner and all well served.

Guadix is not only the Cave neighbourhood, the old town has a fascinating history and historical monuments to visit. In the surroundings there are also amazing walks and views into the badlands. The food offer unfortunately is quite poor and not very appealing.
There is also an amazing tradition on ceramics and you can shop very beautiful and special pieces.

A truly beautiful apartment, immaculate and the host couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful. If I come back to Guadix again I’ll 100% stay here.
Btw … I’m not someone who writes reviews, that’s how nice this place is.
Very helpful owner. You can use the kitchen. Hostal is small..4 rooms in different price range. Located in stunning "streetmaze" of Guadix on the hill. Lovely sungarden in this more than 1000 yo property.
