    This is a great city!

This is a great city! We were only there for two days, but we managed to visit the AHHA centre, the AURA water park and the Botanical Gardens. I liked the atmosphere of the city. The locals speak good English, which makes communication easier. A friendly city for families with small children and infants.

Houses are in good shape, also old wooden ones.

Houses are in good shape, also old wooden ones. It was nice to walk around in different regions of town. Tartu is full of students, student life, and pubs & bars, where students "waste" their time :-) Everything is within walking distance. The river bank is nice. The upside down house was funny and worth visiting. The A. Le Coq beer museum is fine.

A quiet town, and summer is the best time to visit - probably that applies to all visits to Estonia, if you are not there for like a Nordic skiing training camp. Lots of action going on, whatever your interests and preference

It is a great university town with a very beautiful old town, good museums, music in the streets and lots to see. A trip is more than worth it! 5-7 days are recommended. Especially the university museum on the mountain (old campus), several churches and the city museum. boat trips on the river and the many parks are recommended. The KGB Freedom and resistance Museum is very impressive but not recommendable for little children. It shows the atrocities of different occupations. Not recommendable is the modern National Museum outside the city. It has hardly any interesting expositions, hardly visible details because of poor illumination, etc... It looks very modern from the outside but the inside arrangements is rather boring and unimpressive.

In 2024 Tartu will be the European Capital of Culture. There are many events planned in the city. I recommend everyone to visit it. The city has a very interesting scientific center AHHAA. Both children and adults will find it very interesting there.

Good value for money for a short-term stay, especially if you have a pet with you. Bed was very comfy, all necessary things were there plus some sweet touches, like the set table and complimentary tea for example. Towels were good! Also loved the big TV that had all Estonian channels and possible to watch Youtube etc. Easy contact-free check-in and very friendly staff!
