Great breakfast. Very friendly staff. Lots of common areas in the hotel to sit and relax. It has a nice lodge feel but is clean and modern as well. Rothaus Brewery is an easy walk.

The Gasthaus Kreuz is actually in a small village called Riedern am Wald near to Uhlingen-Birkendorf. This needs to be considered when using the Satnav. The village is in a very nice area in the Southern Black Forest a few miles up from the River Rhein. It is a very good base for visiting the area with lots of good dog walking.

The hotel is fantastic. I was given the room overlooking the church and it was a lovely view all round. The sounds of the church bells ringing were so lovely. All the staff were amazing. They were so warm and inviting and kind. Went above and beyond. They were so good with my little girls. Food was fantastic. And portions were generous. I wish we had more days to explore around. But it was peaceful and gorgeous. My whole family loved it.
We will be back next time for longer
Myself and two friends stayed here for two nights in June 2023. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The location was really good as we were touring on motorbikes and both the B500 and the Swiss Passes (Grimsel, Susten and Furka) were in easy reach. We only ate at the Hotel Kreuz restaurant once during our stay (see below) but the evening meals were good as was breakfast on both mornings.
Beautiful, spacious accommodation. Friendly hosts and very well equipped. Exceptionally clean and thoughtfully renovated without losing traditional charm. Loved the outside terrace with countryside views. Children loved playing on the trampoline and the marble run at KugelWaldPfad at Ühlingen-Birkendorf was great fun for all.
The sauna was totally renewed and very relaxing with a nice pool. Food at the restaurant was nice as was the atmosphere. Good parking. Hotelroom was just refurbished.
