Ancient town (the castle is 12 century) with wonderful restaurants, bars, peacefulness, and lots to do in its vicinity. I never had a bad meal or a bad drink at all the places I visited. The cross-country mountain biking is endless. Freiburg is only 18kms away. The significance of this for me, is the international train station, which I used for trips to Switzerland, and the Basel Mulhouse airport is only a one hour bus ride away. This airport serves most of Europe through EasyJet.
The people of Staufen are also very kind and hospitable, so much so, we now have friends there.

Our room was on the third floor which was kind of inconvenient since there isn’t an elevator, but our room was comfortable with a great view. We were within a block of town center with several restaurants and shops. Breakfast at the hotel was very good.
