Ancient town (the castle is 12 century) with wonderful restaurants, bars, peacefulness, and lots to do in its vicinity. I never had a bad meal or a bad drink at all the places I visited. The cross-country mountain biking is endless. Freiburg is only 18kms away. The significance of this for me, is the international train station, which I used for trips to Switzerland, and the Basel Mulhouse airport is only a one hour bus ride away. This airport serves most of Europe through EasyJet.
The people of Staufen are also very kind and hospitable, so much so, we now have friends there.

Superb help from the hotel owner. Historic, stunning location, great food, easy parking nearby, helpful and friendly staff (unlike the experience at the bakery over the square!!) :-) We will be back to stay again
A rare hotel around accepting late arrivals as it has a check in kiosk. The location is superb. The room was flawlessly clean and had a large and well decorated bathroom. The breakfast was fine.
