Hagen is not the most beautiful of towns. Seems to have fallen on hard times like a lot of towns in an Industrial area of the Country.
However as a location to get to other parts of the Ruhr valley it has excellent transport links to the other major towns and cities in the area

Run down boring city. 60s style. Suffering from underinvestment. Very poor facilities and venues. Untidy and dirty train station. Was there before in 70s. Nothing changed. Definite lack of funding. Resembles East German cities in 90s. A city left behind I think. Will not hurry back 2/10. Nothing that impressed me. Signs of urban degredation. Unfinished works. Road works. Shabby empty buildings. Untidy, unpainted empty shops. Planners require reeducated.

I travel to Hagen for work quite often and to be honest this is the best apartment I have stayed in so far. The kitchen has all the appliances that you need, mini bar with snacks and drinks is also available. The room is big and the bed is comfortable. Aldi and Edeka are literally at one minute walking distance. The windows give a good isolation, no noise from the outside even if the road is quite busy. Smart tv in the room works great and it was super easy to connect my device.
Outstanding quality for money. We arrived late and we got an upgrade to the main building and the hotel surprised us with design, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. Bed were good enough and we were sorry we couldn’t stay longer to enjoy the breakfast and the facilities offered.
reception and room was perfect. restaurant for dinner 1 min walking distance. breakfast in a local bakery in the building and you can choose the hotel buffet breakfast or a bakery one, both lovely!
The room was large and modern, very light, but with good curtains to keep it dark as well. Nice shower. The location of the hotel is very central, but the room was quiet anyway.
