I was at the hotel for 4 nights and can say that the cleaning service is satisfactory, towels are changed on time.
Breakfast is good enough.

The staff are very nice. We arrived at evening, two staff warmly welcomed us with delicious cakes and ice cream. They also introduced the near around event to us. The lady at the breakfast is also very nice and helpful. My parents drink only hot water. She quickly provided support to us on this request. It is a fantastic experience to stay in the hotel. By the way, the hotel is close to the hiking weg. It is user friendly for hikers.

I used to live in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area and have friends who live just a couple blocks from this hotel. As someone who has spent years in this area, I always send friends to stay here when visiting the area. Hotel Gasthof Alter Wirt is one of the most affordable accommodations in this otherwise expensive part of Germany. The breakfast is nice and the rooms are comfortable. There is ample street parking and good wifi. Farchant is a lovely village and I definitely encourage people to stay here.

The host was really kind and helpful. Nice atmosphere, very quiet, countryside feeling with beautiful scenery. Even from the house you can walk to the trekking routes easily.

Beautiful new rustic modern 3rd story condo in a village just outside of Garmisch. Unbelievable views of the mountains from all windows and skylights. Bery well equipped kitchen. The village has a bakery just a few minutes walk from the unit that we enjoyed. The host Susie lives below and was very helpful with access to unit and washer/ dryer use ( for a small fee) in the basement. Exceeded our expectations.

Farchant is a great stay if you want to be out of the busyness of Garmisch-Partenkirchen but not too far away to be a moment away. Great local food and welcoming people, have been coming here for years and plan to return.
The atlas hotel has a great restaurant with lots of choice and it’s easy to get to with the train station from Munich or Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Farchant is a gorgeous little village, really pleasant to walk around, with stunning scenery. Loads of local small businesses, pleasant square in front of the town hall, fantastic public transport to Garmisch , Oberammergau and Munich. The restaurant’s were also good. The Italian in the middle was a great price and really bust, we were lucky to get in as most tables were reserved. Bank has a cash point, there’s bakery (open early morning), pharmacy, ice cream parlour, shop, and various places to eat.
One thing you must know - there are NO shops open on Sundays. There are vending machines in different places to buy local products such as milk, eggs, meat and cheese, but if you’re arriving late Saturday, or Sunday, bring some food with you.
We ran out of time to try the pool and the local mountain walks, but the churches are lovely, the local historic walk is nice and it is so so quiet. A real rural idle but with great connections!
The local tourist card is also really useful, we more than got our moneys worth just using the buses!

My goal was to hike the Reichtal trail to the Zugspitze. The starting point is not very well documented so I ended up missing the start time and hike other routes. There are wonderful routes to hike, but not quite the same.

Great little town and in a great location for local...
Great little town and in a great location for local activities. We were near everything we wanted to do over the weekend. It was a quick drive to Eibsee, Partnachklamm Gorge, Ettal Abbey and the Alpine coaster. Wonderful restaurants in town also!
Hotel looks amazing inside and outside. Our room looked nice, and bathroom war very clean and modern, what is very important for me. Staff are very friendly and welcomed us with some snacks after a long day. Breakfast is also very good. 10 out of 10 from me!
The actual apartment itself is very nice. As shown in the pictures - and the view really is amazing! Farchant is also such a cute little town that is very central to all the surrounding areas. Very nice.
