We have travelled to Buccholz in der Nordheide a number of times. It is close to shops, hiking and other attractions. This time we also went for the little Christmas market. It snowed for the entire week which made it lovely! For children, there is an open air museum and a wildlife park locally which are both worth visiting.
A car is the easiest way to travel in the area but there is a train station for further afield

I loved the hotel! As a frequent traveler who has visited many places around the world, I can say that this hotel served the best deer steak I've ever had in my life. It was a delightful surprise, especially coming from such a small, quiet place.
Comfi, traditional Hotel on the roadside - just 10 mins from the 'Autobahn', very close to Hamburg. Rooms are modern, spacious and immaculately clean! Staff is super-friendly.
I can write a book about this HOtel. I travel almost 1/3 of the year and stay in more than 30-40 hotels thurout the year. This hotel is easily in my top 3. Nothing bad to say.
