FAQs about hotels in Brno

The Historic Heart of Moravia

The 2nd largest Czech city, Brno is a centre of Moravian culture, surrounded by lush countryside. The twin spires of the hilltop Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul dominate the neighbouring Bishops Palace, while the nearby square houses the Moravia Museum and Reduta Theatre, both the oldest in the country.

Beneath the square is Brno Underground, a maze of medieval tunnels and cellars that once housed wine produced in the surrounding region. There is an annual wine festival here, but the largest event is the Ignis Brunensis fireworks competition by Brno Lake to the north-west, lined by trees that hide Veveří Castle.

A less grand castle - Špilberk - sits on a hill in the city centre. At its feet is Masaryk University, the 2nd largest in the Czech Republic. The city’s Mendel University is named after the genetics founder who was abbot of St Thomas’ Abbey, where a museum commemorates his work.

The nearby Brno Exhibition Centre is of functionalist design, but the most important example of this architectural style is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Villa Tugendhat. On the opposite side of the city is Masaryk Circuit, home of the Czech MotoGP.

The Brno accommodation on Booking.com includes cheap hostels near the train station, guest houses near Freedom Square and hotels by Brno-Tuřany Airport.

Very charming city with a lot of dining options & good public transit… city is not too overcrowded but still energetic, I would stay Brno over Paris any day, it’s much less expensive in CZ in general as they’ve retained the Kronar and have not adopted the euro.

Brno is definitely a very underrated place between vienna...

Brno is definitely a very underrated place between vienna and prague... but its student crowd and multicultural setup can and will always lead to an eye opening experience... it's a true gem of not being overrun by tourists... even great nature in the outskirts... plus its proximity to vienna is a huge bonus.. sink in to what I call... Brno..it's not a city... its a lifestyle

I was there for a day and looked around.

I was there for a day and looked around. Nice city center, the Peter and Paul church is great from outside (not that exciting inside), the water tanks are pretty cool, the castle is worth a walk around and for the views (prison is not very exciting), the ossuary is more of an art exhibition, and the city hall has fantastic views from the tower (but not much more). The vegetable market is a nice square to do some people watching. Overall, a nice day trip, but you probably don't need much more than a day, if you don't want to sample the local cuisine and beer in more detail.

We loved the late 19th century/early 20th century architecture. We loved the beer bars and restaurants. The beer tastes wonderful and is very democratically priced. We loved the compact size of the city centre. We loved the value for money.

An attractive small city with well preserved buildings...

An attractive small city with well preserved buildings dating from medieval, through 18th century to art nouveau. A beautiful cathedral atop a hill, likewise a fine fortress castle. A fine market, the oldest theatre in Europe, historic one-time celebrities, including the wonderful Janacek - the Janacek house can be visited. Compact and easy to around with fine trams for those that don't like to walk. Good cafe life but restaurants less inspiring. Overall, ideal for a 2 o3 day visit.

    Its little bit weird.

Its little bit weird. Its like weekend place for locals and German pensioners. If you dont like drinking beer there is nothing else that you can do (exception "Veveri hrad"- nice place). All over the destination we couldnt see that someone drinks coffee or juice.. too many drunkards in the streets.. this destination is not worth the long yourney (but orea resort corrects that feeling!)

First time I was ever in the Czech Republic, I'm from Hungary. The hotel can be reached by foot in an hour from the main train station, and meanwhile you can have a little sightseeing around the city. The panorama of the hotel is impressive. The staff was very friendly, they helped me in every case. Breakfasts were marvelous, always something fresh and delicious. Wellnes services were more than enough. The rooms were really clean, had a rustic like style, and plenty of space. Definitely I would visit here again, if I come by.

I really enjoyed my overnight stay. The flat was clean and cosy. I loved the view from the 6th floor where I was staying. Mrs/Miss Lucka was prompt with answering messages and the communication was great. Everything went smoothy and I'm really glad I chose Apartman Susan and will surely book room with them again. The location was just a cherry on the top as it's super close to the Grand Hotel bus station. Would def recommend. 🥰

When booking, we did not expect much. And instead of an old, run-down, out-of-fashion we found ourselves in ... a palace. The decor was old-style, yet very tasty and super-elegant. The room was clean, bed very comfortable, good AC, good wifi, very professional staff. This is what a real hotel should look like and that was a refreshing experience after staying in all-the-same chain hotels. It was PERFECT!
