I felt the vibrancy of the place, especially that you can see greens, trees and plants around the city, which I don't experience in Dubai. There so much friendliness and kindness of the people, this is the best aspect of San Jose that I experience. For tourist like me navigating my way around, as first timer in the city, I felt safe because the locas are so friendly and kind. I will definitely come back and next time, longer stay to explore San Jose and the neighboring cities.

Crowded, and expensive.
Crowded, and expensive. Come prepared to walk on awkward sidewalks.
However, people are friendly in general, but due to the lack of street signs use your mobile GPS. Don't go to the "fancy and pricey" restaurants, go to the good and less expensive. Check "TripAdvisor". Stay only a couple of days in San Jose, if you have to, but you better run to the beaches.

San Jose is one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica!
San Jose is one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica! We often frequented Cumpanis (for their coffee and OUT OF THIS WORLD bread) and we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. Our favorite place that we ate was at Ram Luna (it's a drive, but so worth it)! Super easy to get around and everything you need is within walking distance. We highly recommend visiting the National Museum (especially if you love butterflies)!

Utter dump.
Utter dump. Area west of Sabana is better but not a lot of dacilities. SJ is a city full of fast food outlets, rubbish strewn all over the place, more potholes than actual tarmac, homeless vagabonds sleeping in the streets. On top of that prices for just about everything are extortionate. 3rd world conditions at 1st World prices. Get in and get out, rapido

We spent one afternoon and evening in San José at the end of our trip to Costa Rica/Panama. For us this was enough. After spending three weeks in the natural surroundings offered by these two amazing countries, the city in San José was an abrupt change. We are glad we saw it, but it is not really a city where you need much more time in.

Oscar, the hotel manager, is an excellent person who takes care of guest needs promptly and in a very courteous manner. He goes above and beyond to make the guest feel comfortable and at home. He is a well-educated, respectful and charismatic individual. This, coupled with the great hotel amenities made our stay very pleasant. I would definitely book this hotel again if I had to come back to the US Embassy in Pavas, San José, Costa Rica for another appointment.
It is a wonderful small hotel conveniently located in downtown San Jose, at a walking distance from everything you likely want to see in the capital, with good restaurants nearby. It is very safe, open 24 h, well taken care of, with a very pleasant, relaxing, friendly atmosphere. A great base to explore San Jose and have tours around. You can always expect help and good advice at this place. Strongly recommended.
We booked this hotel last minute for just the one night, but we were very glad that we did. For the price, the hotel is very well equipped and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was also very good (one of the best banana breads I’ve ever had in fact). We were glad to be in downtown for anyone unsure which area to stay in.
Just around downtown san jose. Basic but clean hotel. Personel did not speak english, but tried her best and was friendly. Breakfast was like the hotel: basic but fine.
