A perfect little hotel to stay at and explore Sámara. Loved my room on the 1st floor overseeing the pool with lots of light and just enough space. I appreciated the little details: an umbrella, a fridge, a bottle of water, an umbrella, a safe drawer, and a beach towel.

We had an amazing stay at Villas Kalimba! From the moment we arrived, Laura and Carolina made us feel so welcome—it truly felt like home. The pool was beautiful, offering a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the tropical surroundings. The villa was comfortable, well-maintained, and equipped with everything we needed, including a kitchen for cooking meals and preparing daily smoothies. The peaceful, private setting was ideal for unwinding, yet the common areas were well-equipped and convenient. We can’t thank the staff enough for their warmth and hospitality. Samara is a small beach town that is entirely walkable. It is not home to large resorts (which we like). We LOVED Carrillo beach (10 minute drive south of town) and I would rate it one of my all time favourite beaches in the world (extremely long beach with palm trees lining it for ample shade, beautiful sand, safe surf for kids and families, easy parking along the road, no parking fees, no resorts, no cruise ships, quiet - perfection!).

Not super built up with big name hotels. Quiet, laid back vibe. Lots of little bars and restaurants. Lots of expats to chat with as well as friendly locals.
Beach is beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Waves are fun to play in.
Would come back to Costa Rica, and visit Sámara again as well as explore other areas.

Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach.
Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach. There are many other beaches nearby. It has quite a few restaurants and cafes to choose from. Lots of great fish. Prices are "reasonable" by comparison with some fancier locations along the coast, but all prices in US dollars are high for Canadians.
Just two hours from Liberia airport, this town has a laid back feel. Not sure how long that will last.

Samara is a funky little beach town with lots of little eateries and shops, and a number of restaurants right on the beach undercover with enough variety to make it interesting. There were also enough activities and beaches in the area to enjoy.
