We booked a Grand Ocean View King but were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to the much larger Executive Suite Ocean View Room. The guest relations manager introduced herself to us and gave us a chat contact should we wished to ask any questions. The room had all the old school hotel fixtures like retractable hanging line in the shower and drying rack on the balcony which make it great for travellers. The view was very good and we enjoyed use of the pools.
We asked reception for recommendations of local restaurants. They didn't seem very knowledgeable but ultimately they recommended the Yiheng Shopping Food Court where we had a great seafood market meal.
The hotels has a lot of facilities and activities for kids and a very modern and well appointed gym.
The hotel is reasonably close to the airport.

Here, you can easily pick up daily necessities at the supermarket and enjoy a range of restaurants, including both Chinese options like Hot Pot and BBQ, as well as Western choices like KFC and Pizza Hut. For more excitement, a 10-12 minute taxi ride via DiDi takes you to the vibrant night market, a must-visit during your stay.
In the evenings, a leisurely stroll along Sanya beach reveals locals engaging in dance classes such as High Energy Dance or C-pop Dace. For a more relaxed vibe, the hotel's rooftop bar offers the perfect spot to unwind with a cold beer while admiring the night view of the beach. I highly recommend trying the coconut wheat beer—it was delicious, though of course, individual tastes may differ!

For your money you will get better value and service in Southeast Asian destinations like Thailand and Vietnam and Bali. But if you like seafood and speak Chinese you'll enjoy it.

Sanya is a fantastic tropical break for people in China, especially those living in the North who need some quick relief. However, the general consensus is that Sanya does not offer quite the same 'holiday experience' as destinations in other South East Asian countries, so although Sanya is perfect for a quick break, if you find you have a longer vacation then it might be worth heading a touch further afield.

Sanya is the main tourist hot spot on Hainan Island. But still it doesn't feel overcrowded. The City is is very clean, offers a wide range of restaurants bars and accomodation. Besides beach activities the nature is stunning and you can go on hikking tours. You can get your scuba dicing certificate as well, several diving centers are offering courses and some fun dicing.

Yalong bay provided a beautiful beach with many activities available. Sadly there was no lifestyle on the beach (restaurants and bars, shops etc). Making dining and evenings a bit boring. Also, bear in mind Sanya is huge, making it a big distance to go anywhere. City center is 40 to 60 minutes away by car as is Sanya bay and Haitang bay so its very isolated.

Sanya is a nice place to stay, after more then 20 years living in China it was my first time here, but I really enjoyed it. I stayed here outside the public holidays, and perhaps due to the COVID it was not so busy, but I enjoyed it very much. In the evening there is a bar called Dolphin Sports Bar & Grill with a very good live (Filipino) band. Also the food is very nice in this place. If you like Italian food, Casa Mia is the place to go, excellent food for a very reasonable price. If you want to go for an exclusive dinner, make a reservation at Barbacao beach restaurant at The Edition hotel, wonderful place and very nice food.
Hualux Hotel is an excellent choice for a family getaway. The location is superb, with the sea just a 3-5 minute walk away. The breakfast is splendid, offering a wide variety of both Chinese and international options. We had the half-board plan, and the dinners were quite enjoyable as well. There are plenty of activities and entertainment options for kids, making it a perfect place for a family vacation (we were traveling with kids of 4 and 7 years old).
This was our second visit to Ritz Carlton. The service level was just exceptional. The staff working there like William, Nanncy, Mikael, Lynn and many others just stood out for us. The service level compensated any other short comings. Our flight was on 6 August back to Shanghai, the staff namely William took exception actions to support us to get to the airport. Even though our flights were eventually cancelled due to Sanya lock down.
At first we liked the location of the hotel, in second the tasty breakfast. We stayed a four nights and the personal clean the room every day and changed towels, also the towels for special to the beach and swimming pool. Additionally, we asked the room with sea view and it was amazing. 🤩 in conclusion, we liked it
The room is fresh and big enough for a family with two kids. The sea view from the room is fantastic. The staff are friendly and eager to help at anytime. The breakfast is definitely worthy the money. Many choices and yammy. A lot of different entertainments for the kids in the hotel area.
Good location to the beach Sanya Bay. Near the hotel street full of different food, shop market and shopping centers. Also u can use a tram which is behind the hotel and you can travel around the city which is very big.
