Rooftop bar was great! Staff was super fun and friendly. Beautiful hotel and gardens. Location is superb, close to square, restaurants (we loved the hotel’s restaurant the best!), and locked parking a few feet down the road. Definitely recommend!

The town of Vicuña is like stepping back in time in the most beautiful way. Then once you step into this hotel you are transformed into a boutique luxury experience. The rooms are well appointed, clean and the staff is wonderful. Having traveled for quite some time, the housekeeping staff was kind to do a load of laundry for us! Above and beyond and super appreciated! We ate dinner here twice, had breakfast three mornings (which was a perfect blend of fresh fruit and juice, eggs, toast and ham made to order and americano)! I ended up needing to work on some contracts during our stay and the wifi was impeccable from all points on the property, note just in my room. I worked one morning and one afternoon under the shaded tables near the pool. It was lovely. Our dinner both nights were great. While the staff doesn’t speak much English, we were able to communicate and ended up loving the connection made with our servers. Shout out to Darani! She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.
On top of all of this, Diego, who runs the property was fantastic. He spoke great English and was able to help guide us on the other parts of Chile we should visit. He also connected us with Ruben to drive us to and from the airport. We loved Ruben so much we booked him for every ride of our stay! He transported us to the Elqui Valley and back, to La Serena and back. His car is very nice, comfortable, safe and he is an impeccable driver. Be sure to ask to connect with him for your travels!
In town, my partner got a haircut from the barber shop one block away. We visited the local grocery store twice for small provisions and ate delicious sorbet at the shop on the corner of the plaza. We also ate one lunch and dinner At Antawara. Lunch was great. Dinner missed the mark for us but they were very slow that night and we were the last table. Their pisco drinks were good!
We highly suggest going from there to the Elqui Valley as well!

Beautiful mountain hideaway with pool. Quiet and tranquil, with birds singing . Comfortable bed. Good place to look at stars. Great breakfast prepared by Claudio who is a wonderful host.
Lovely spot in Elqui Valley and very much worth a visit.
Lovely spot in Elqui Valley and very much worth a visit. However, be forewarned if you are not fluent in Spanish and are going for stargazing. We went to the observatory and planetarium and were disappointed to find no English explanation anywhere at all. Nada. My Spanish wasn't good enough to derive much comprehension or pleasure from the narrator's talk on the night sky, as amazing as it was to see. Chileans have a distinctive accent that drops syllables and speak very fast. The guide showed no concern or mercy, unlike most other Chileans we met who slowed down, repeated words, etc. Another bilingual tourist tried gamely to keep us informed.
I did NOT expect much English to be spoken in Chile, of course, but I'd hoped/expected that a tourist attraction with an international reputation would be different. Weeks before we travelled we emailed to ask if there was any English offered and never received a reply. Btw, there was plenty of English in various museums we visited in Santiago and an English audiotour at Neruda's incredible Isla Negra home. More annoying at the observatory tho' was that after the stargazing the whole audience was herded to an area where people were exhorted to buy corny souvenir photos. Unluckily for us, the strangers who shared our van up to the mountain top opted for the pix and we waited 75 minutes in the van til they showed up. Even the driver was fed up but he seemed unable to figure out what to do.

It is a small town with character. You can reach the whole area if you rent a car, and enjoy places like the Artisan Market of Horcón, some of the Pisco distilleries, historical sites, etc. Tons of places to eat around the town Square with excellent food and ice cream. Our stargazing tour in Mamalluca Observatory was excellent. The Gabriela Mistral Museum is informative, easy to follow, and at the best international level.

Vicuña is not much of a destination by itself, but has shops and restaurants clustered around a central plaza. I recommend staying there as a base for exploring Elqui Valley. I suggest a few days in Vicuña for the vineyards and other valley sights, and a couple of days in a beachfront hotel in La Serena before departing.

A pleasant town to walk around, nice main square, many options for restaurants (we enjoyed El Chivato Negro) and the Gabriela Mistral museum is excellent. Well placed to tour the Elqui Valley for the day.

the location, hospitality, rooms, cleanliness and facilities were all amazing! and all the outdoor areas are lovely. the staff were exceptional. one of our group was really unwell during our stay and they helped us get medical help and extend our stay with no fuss - they genuinely care about their guests and gave great advice about visiting Vicuña. thank you hostal Michel!!
A delightfully converted old family home, run by the family and committed staff. The rooms are carefully designed keeping original features.
Breakfast is excellent as was dinner. Wines are from the Elqui Valley and are amazing. The courtyards, garden and pool are havens of peace.
