To be honest everything. The hotel's facilities and the staff's hospitality made our stay incredibly smooth. We left sad but grateful after such a great time in Chaiten.

We stayed in a lovely brand new cabin close to the Ruta 7. We got a night ferry, so we only arrived at 2345, but we were warmly by Klaus. The cabana is very comfortable and warm and we had an excellent nights sleep. We had a super breakfast in the morning and were on our way down the Carretera Austral. A special place to stay

This is a town struggling to recover from the 2008 eruption and succeeding in welcoming travelers to the mountain trails and beaches. Full of fascinating local restos and bars. Haven for backpackers. Awesome setting and warm friendly people.
Like: incredible scenery, amazing pristine forests, Parque Pumalin, not-to-be-missed tour guide, no traffic hassles, a still-smoking volcano in the background.
Downside: limited choice of food if you are vegetarian. New-wave coffee has yet to reach Chaitén.

Chaiten is a central spot to explore Pumalin Park, both north and south of the town. The town was almost destroyed in a volcanic eruption a decade ago-make sure to see the part of town where they left the damage in place and then go on a hike to the perpetrator itself-Volcan Chaiten.
Best place to stay in Chaitén, hands down. We tried a few other places which turned out to be dirty holes, but still required 40000clp per night.
This place is on top of the biggest supermarket in town, centrally located, wonderful cafe across the street. The staff is best of all. They found us someone to do the laundry, for instance. Bicycles can be parked under a roof in a closed courtyard.
We booked after arriving Chaiten but the owner immediately contacted us through whatsapp with the precise location. It is like renting the whole property and the comfortness and design/atmosphere was beyond our expectations! Nice living room with a sofa and stove. We felt like home and loved it so much.
A great tiny house that gave my wife and I ideas for a house of our own. The owners were extremely hospitable, going out of their way to help out. Fully recommended to any and all travelers through Chaitén!
The beds were great and the shower was very nice and clean. There was plenty of space to park the car in front of the hotel. Breakfast was simple but fine.
